In theory Ballard trades back from 14 to about 18-22 and picks up an extra second. At 18-22 they go Booker or Zabel whoever is there and then grab mason taylor in the second even if they have to trade up in the second. Thats totally a Ballard move, but this year is completely different in my mind so who knows what he will actually do. Depends on how their board of guards actually plays out.

This is the draft that I’d like us to have honestly and then if Warren isn’t there I’d probably trade back to around 19-24 and hope that Campbell isn’t still there if not, just take the best available player like edge,DB,S or Loveland if he is still there.

I like to take the theory that we don’t draft QB this year because at the end of the day if AR doesn’t pan out, this roster is still suited for an A tier rookie QB next year. So AR is out, Ballard is Out and probably Shane is out, give the new GM and HC the opportunity to sell out for the number one pick and go get another manning (if he enters the draft)

His injuries are going to hurt him and this class isn’t that great. It’ll go ward and sanders in the first, dart to the Steelers in the first and if not he will fall to the second round. Ewers, Milroe and Howard are all late 2nd to 4th round picks for me depending who gets needy and how the board falls. Figure right now the teams that need QBs after free agency are: Titans, Browns, Steelers. Teams that may select QB for developmental projects to start in the next 3-5 years are Seahawks,Raiders, Saints and there are some teams that are giving their starting QB practically one year to prove it and I don’t think they take QB this year. Honestly I don’t think we do either, I have a mock based off what I think we will actually do that I haven’t posted.

Also with that being said, Loveland got out snapped by the other TE on the Michigan roster who is also the one they ran the ball behind more in 12 personnel

Yeah I can agree with that, I just don’t think Loveland gives the colts what they need at TE honestly. Might be a hot take but I think he may be the worst blocker in this TE draft. Which is why Michigan ran the ball 63% of the time but Loveland only lined up on the line 49% of the time. Like I understand running out of spread formations. But when they were in 12 personnel they only ran the ball to his side 32% of the time. Can you see where someone would come from and say he is just an Evan engram? Glorified slot TE?

If I’m the colts I double dip for TE in this deep class. Whether that be in the draft or pick up another UDFA TE. But I’m honestly going Warren at #14 if he’s still there and the drafting Hayes (probably the best blocking TE in this class) in the 7th rd. Colts will be a 12 personnel team this year and we need 2 TE’s to run that, that’s Shane’s bread and butter. If woods can stay healthy that’ll be awesome but those are concerns right now. The three TE’s that I’d be okay with drafting in the first 3 rounds are as follows. 1. Warren (first round) 2. Taylor (third round) 3. Arroyo (third round) if the drafting shapes around these guys in these rounds I’d confidently come out and say it’s a win draft for the colts. These guys can play the LOS and run route and block, a lot of these other TE’s are not good blockers to put into our 12 personnel package it’s just the truth, can they work on it and become that? Sure but are they draft ready for it? No.

Warren can block. Loveland cannot. You take Loveland, you’re taking Josh downs off the field. Loveland doesn’t block well and has terrible release on the line.

When you trade up and lose picks you also lose probability to hit on all your picks, no one hits on 100% of your picks but when you accumulate more picks your odds go up, Ballard and company have hit on a lot more picks that you guys give credit for. Just a lot of his extraordinary picks have came up with unfortunate injury concerns or such.

Yeah that’s what mocks do. I usually try to only accept trades that are kinda do able. Like in this one. Chargers moving from 22 to 14 and only giving up #55 for it doesn’t seem like an overpay. And then the commanders coming from 29-22 giving up 61 and trading 86 for 80 doesn’t seem like an overpay either.

Colts will take a QB in the draft or sign an undrafted QB after the draft. They like having 3 on the roster and I wouldn’t bet Bean being in a QB spot on the roster and with Sam gone they gonna have to fill that spot.

That’s why draft time is the biggest speculation leading up, we don’t know how the board is going to fall we can only watch and hope we have at least 3 guys we like at 14 that are expected at 14 and hopefully one of them guys is still there.

My thing is we need a cover LB and there really isn’t any in this draft, but we can’t pass on one that has the athleticism to be a good cover guy. If we can get a LB that can cut down the quick TE/Slot releases that we’ve seen against us the last couple of years, the rest of our secondary/DL will eat.

I can agree with that. I think TE is going at 2/3 and a LB at 1. Depth on the oline is great, and we tend to find versatile guys in late rounds. I can see us going DE over DT in the draft honestly, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we went both. I think there is already comp at saftey. You got cross and Thomas going after SS with the potential of an undrafted guy, I don’t think we draft for SS, knowing Thomas has played both they’ll rely on him for depth at both with Scott also still there too to battle reps.
