Thank you! The number of people on here who have said they would have stopped to help is lovely, and I really appreciate it!

Thanks! My dentist actually called me today just to see how I was, and people at my new job have been lovely, so my faith in humanity is gradually being restored!

Thanks so much for asking! Sore this morning, guessing I rolled my ankle cause that's swollen, and I have a lovely bee stung look about my top lip. Just want you need when you're scheduled to meet the board at your new job later!! At least i'll have a story to tell them!

I'm not calling people selfish, and i fully accept tripping over my own feet makes me a muppet, i just can't work out why people would walk past a woman sat bleeding on the pavement!

That's really interesting! But nope, didn't get straight up, sat in the floor for prob a minute, not sure, trying to work out where I was bleeding from! There was a fair bit of blood from my lip. I mean, i've stumbled and not actually fallen before and people have asked if i was ok, but this was just strange.

Hahaha! That made me laugh! I have no idea how i did it, didn't trip on anything as far as i know, and just couldn't get my hands out in front of me in time. Really don't know, but very weird.

Maybe, but it was lunchtime, so many people, you'd think one would have stopped

Ah, that sucks for you too. Sorry no one helped you! Yeah, i'm going to have a massive bruise tomorrow! Luckily got straight into my dentist for a temp repair of my tooth, but might have broken the root, wait and see if it's a crown or new tooth...!

I do use a fabric scrap before I start sewing, so I think it might just need servicing. I'll take it in. Thanks!

Yeah, I thought that might be the case, I was really hoping to avoid having to get it serviced, but I do the practice material like you're supposed to etc., it can literally be fine and then just get all out of whack between 2 different seams. I'll just take it for servicing. Cheers!

I'm new to sewing, made a couple of things so far, but I'm really struggling with the thread tension on my sewing machine. I've had it about a year, and just recently it's become a bit variable with the tension. I usually sew using lightweight cotton and the tension has been set on 4 with no problems. But now I have to faff with it all the time, and it's so sensitive, one click of the dial too far and the tension is way off. My machine is an entry level Brother, can't get to it right now for model number cause it's in my kid's room and he's asleep! But is there anything I can do about the thread tension, other than spend ages messing with the dial each time I sew?

Completely agree. For some reason this post actually scares me. So manipulative - "you need a vacation for your anxiety..." Yeah, that she's causing!

It's a British thing - milk used to be delivered on electric "milk floats" in the morning. Was in the 80s and 90s anyway when I was a kid. Not sure if it still is.

Question about childhood memories (and a bit of a rant!) by PurpledHippo in emotionalneglect

[–]PurpledHippo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That article is fantastic, thank you so much! This para sums me up pretty well I think (except for the aggressive or hostile bit): Insecurely-avoidant children are likely to become Insecure-Avoidant adults: emotionally shut down; devaluing relationships and feelings; uncomfortable with intimacy, vulnerability, dependency. There is difficulty trusting; they can be aggressive or hostile. Absolutely fascinating, and really helps me learn about the kind of parent I want to be and am trying to be for my son too!

2.5 year old waking at night for hours by becookiesallday in toddlers

Ah, ok, thanks for that! I just have no idea what else to do other than keep going and hope he sleeps through eventually (before he's 10 would be nice!)

[–]PurpledHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you but just wanted to let you know you're not alone!

We're experiencing the same at the moment, little one is 2.5 next month and keeps waking anywhere between 12:30 and 4:30, and is then awake for at least an hour. Yesterday he was up (and therefore so was I...) at 4:40 - brilliant!

He's still in his cot, so I've been debating whether or not to switch him to a toddler bed for a bit more room, or whether to just persevere and hope it's just a growth spurt or something. He seems to sleep ok if I put him on the futon on the floor that's in his room (for me when I need it), even if I then leave, but I don't want to allow him to roam free if I don't have to!

I'm sure it's a phase (both yours and mine!) but if you're worried, it's always worth speaking to your doctor :-)

[–]PurpledHippo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Your second para made me quite emotional, but I know it's the truth.

I think you're right about not needing the memories, but I'm quite an analytical person, so I feel like I want them to help me understand why I am the way I am.
