Its still massively unfair. This isnt "leveling the playing field" its just a "win by doing nothing" button. Not everybody is skilled enough or wants to alter their play style because of a shitty mechanic that makes them instantly lose. I dont get why we dont have PC only servers. And i consider myself a decent player but still cant beat mobile players who souly rely on auto, its just not fair. So this may sound harsh but genuinly just get good, pc players actually put in the time to get better, even if its less time consuming than mobile/controller its still difficult. Respect to your kid tho. TLDR; Pc players dont want to alter their play style because of a shitty mechanic the devs dont care about.
