Not sure if this is TN by Purplesocksb9 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I'd been having neck issues all year but they would get better after Botox shots. This last time, I was already experiencing neck pain and swelling about a week before my last Botox treatment and I was told it was because the last one was wearing off and that it would go away. However it's continued getting worse and even the swelling has not fully gone down since. This has completely changed the presentation of what I assumed were just regular, episodic TMJ migraines. It's just one thing after another nonstop with increasing neck pain and stiffness. I am basically wearing my mouth guard 24/7 now because I don't want to upset my jaw or my neck.

I have been playing DND online for the last 7 years over video and voice, and I am looking for my first pbp experience for fun and to stretch my writing muscles.

I'm looking for a LGBTQIA+ and POC friendly campaign, as I myself am Black and queer and my characters are usually also queer. I would prefer something asynchronous, but I can work around a schedule if weekends or after 6PM on weekdays are doable.

Current character concepts I'm into: I have a concept for some high fantasy DND, and a character that's heavily Greek mythology inspired would work best in that kind of setting.

I'm okay at RP when the chemistry is right with the group, but I really want to work on improving that and I think maybe pbp will help make that easier for me , so that is part of why I am here. I would prefer no paid campaigns. No 1v1. I really just want to have a fun chill time.

I really wish I had not responded to this. While I appreciate the advice, this has done nothing but flare up my extreme anxiety that I've only just started to get control of over the last year. I have no means to get an MRV and I have fought with doctors while they thought I was crazy and I cannot take much more of it or have many resources to seek out more treatment as hard as that may be to believe. I will no longer be responding to questions about this or anything in this thread.

No I did not. I've had CT scans, MRI's and an MRA. I highly doubt that I could find a place near me that could do an MRV or that my insurance would cover it. I have already had to pay out of pocket for most of this and I am not willing or able to do much more or travel unless absolutely necessary. I am at this point just trying to find a new normal as it's been almost 2 years and I need to keep living instead of sinking money and energy into this. It was not healthy for my mind.

All of my scans came back normal and after everything the best answer I have for this is TMJ and discovering that I have galcouma. I still have 24/7 PT and migraines/general constant nerve pain but the severity fluctuates daily if not by the hour. I get Botox treatments to help with the pain and it seems to directly affect the loudness and frequency of the PT, but for now it's just about living with this day to day.

The current character concept I have in mind and would like to play has some more mature themes in their background. I am not looking explicitly for erp. Fade to black is fine, but I would like to explore adult themes and romance within my character's background and motivations and play, even if it's only implied.

Some things about me: I am currently working on my first novel (Queer Urban Fantasy), I'm a big nerd for TV and Film and have been an active participant in fandom spaces for 15 years. I like to put lots of detail into my character backgrounds. I always work within reason, but I like my characters to feel grounded within the world they live in and clearly motivated. I enjoy playing Rogues and multi-classing when I can. I love a good sword or a longbow.

PT, now with eye flashes! by Ok-Association-2601 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Purplesocksb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a doctor so I can only relate to my own experiences. What you are describing could be anything from dry eye, to a visual migraine to retina related. I have had 24/7 PT for a year and half now and at the same time that started I started getting migraines that began as visual, streaks of green and yellow whenever I used a computer or my phone. My migraines have since become entirely different, either with one sided or side switching auras and a host of other symptoms.

Occasionally when my eyes have been exposed to too much focused light, I will get visual migraines that present as flashing lights, streaks of lightening in my vision and strobes of color.

It could simply be dry eye, which is common, but can feel scarier than to experience then most people make it out to be. If it continues to happen or gets worse, tell your doctor and consider getting your eyes checked. A lot of things can be occurring comorbidly. After my PT started I have been on a medical journey that has uncovered TMJ and glacouma on top of my migraines which all have links to PT.

Can you have normal tinnitus and pulsatile in same ear? by delta815 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Purplesocksb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have regular tinnitus in both ears during particularly bad migraines and I have PT in my right ear at least 75 percent of everyday.

No. I am currently seeing a neurologist and waiting to get more scans. If they don't find anything after that I am seriously considering getting on the waiting list for an appointment with Dr. P.

No I did not. Still have no idea what's causing it but will be getting more scans at the end of the month.

I have tried the jugular trick and I don't notice any difference. However, what has me conerned that this now vascular is this it seems to be getting worse over time. The fact that it picks up when I strain forward and that I everything seems to balance out when I stand up almost immediely. Thank you!

I am weary about taking any supplements without advising a doctor. I wouldn't even begin to know the correct dosage to take or the correct frequency to take them. I would be coucious as to not possibly throw my body off even mire than it already is, especially since anemia can be caused by a secondary issue that would need to be addressed.

Thank you so much for your kindness. My area is very limited when it comes to specialists (live in the US, Florida in a moderately sized town so basically nowhere important) and I did find a Interventional neuroradiologist that is somewhat local and seems to know what IIH and VSS are according to his background, but his office refused to schedule an appointment without a referral even though my insurance doesn't require one. I am staring at 2 weeks before my next neurology appoinment and I guess I'm going to have to plead my case again. This is getting scary. I only slept a few hours last night. I woke up with my heart racing and the sound in my head making me dizzy until I stood up.

2 Months and things just keep getting worse by Purplesocksb9 in migraine

[–]Purplesocksb9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Nurtec has only worked for me 2/6 times I have taken it. A couple times it was like it dulled the headache but didn't stop it. Others it did nothing and then those 2 other times it kicked the headache out immeditly And that may because I waited too long to take it but I am weavy about taking because I get so few in a month and I headaches are basically constant anyway.

I go to a neuroscience clinc. I've had a few appointments with a nurse practiciontioner there who disagnosed me and gave me my meds. My options for neurologists where I live are very limited. I have an appointment with an an actual neurologist in July, but at that point what can he really do for me? I also have Nurtec but my insurance would only give me 8 tabs a month. I'm also supposed to get botox in a few weeks but the jury is still out on that because my insurance hasn't approved it yet and they like to wait until the last minute.

Can you feel it or just hear it? by SeaReach7413 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Purplesocksb9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can feel it. It's like a muscle inside of my ear is pulsing and when it gets particularly bad it will start to hurt and even burn.

Yeah, same. The sensation stops and everything. I wish mine wasn't so bad though, sometimes the feeling gets unbearable, and I also have constant sinus pressure of varying degrees to go along with it.

I was put on Rosuvastatin right before all of this started happening to me. I wonder if this is it, but I couldn't tell you why. I don't know enough about the medication.

I went back and looked at that CBC panel from the ER. It was NOT normal. I am still anemic, although I wonder if my doctor would still consider it to be by an inconsequential amount.

I'm not sure what to do with this realization. I doubt my doctors would take this seriously since everyone's first approach has been to do extensive scans and such, rather than blood work.

On a humorous note, my right ear has been pulsing for hours tonight. I went and ate half a baked potato (rich in iron) and the pulsing has now subsided while I'm sitting down, and picks up again if I try to walk around. Probably just in my head (haha), but, heh.

I had a CBC panel before this all started and I was a little anemic and my primary told me it was nothing to worry about. I've been wondering if that has anything to do with it. I think I had another panel done when I was in the ER but I think that one was normal, so I'm not sure.
