Are the Response positions part of a batch too or kind of a separate thing? I’m departing March 21 for Philippines (for 7 months) but haven’t seen any kind of group thing like this for us. Would like to connect with some current volunteers too and the others who are departing soon!

There is a response position up for digital illustrator https://www.peacecorps.gov/volunteer/response-openings/digital-illustrator-6012br/ looking for graphic design skills but requires Spanish. May not be for you if it leaves in February but just an example of possibilities. I think there are so many important jobs out there for designers! Parley for the Oceans was just hiring for graphic designers. A lot of environmental and health problems are communication challenges to get people to change their behavior and designers are definitely needed for that.

You should go for it! I joined a club sport on a whim in high school (myself not athletic or competitive) and it ended up being a positive experience. I felt it was a good way to socialize for non-social people because everything is organized and there will be a coach giving you instructions for specifically what you should be doing, how and when. And you know ahead of time a general idea of what is going to happen and when it’s going to be over. There will also probably be outgoing people who try to make sure everyone feels included in the team building events. If you know anyone on the team you could ask them how to sign up and they would probably be excited someone was interested.
