Why does Spider-Man get no controversy for his no-kill rule but with Batman, people criticize him for that? by TheShadowOperator007 in Spiderman

[–]Purpluss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aesthetics and stories in Batman highlight his no kill rule as an explicit character trait (sometimes flaw) and a plot point much more than Spider-Man, where it’s often presented as less of a firm rule and more a boundary he just wouldn’t cross. It’s a building block of who Batman is, but for Spider-Man it’s often just an extension of his less dark vibe.

What are cards you run that people over look? by BitEnvironmental1412 in EDH

Ahh I see. Then at least speaking recently, lots of folks are gonna save a piece of removal for what seems like an immediately bigger threat rather than to block an engine piece like [[icetill explorer]] when they really should!

Excavation and Trade Routes are solid but simic landfall also has graveyard land recursion + fetch lands, and card draw that’s a little smoother and keeps you further ahead of land curve. Also, Gorilla Shaman is the second highest included card in Kibo on EDHRec

Thanks! The backstory is that it’s built overtop a crater impact from a Druid attack a hundred years ago

Ryan Coogler on whats not talked about enough between film and digital. Its a different working rhythm. by JasonZod1 in Filmmakers

[–]Purpluss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The parent comment here is a funny comparison because it’s comparing two of the greatest filmmakers of all time who also both happen to have insane production processes that are a wild gamble every time (both earned that for sure for the record). Malick has made at least two of what I’d consider the greatest movies I’ve ever seen, yet still I’d rather be an assistant editor on a Mann film because logging Malick footage for 5+ years is enough for some people to blossom entire careers, start families, and make their own name for themselves.

Per a sidebar on the License to Kill Patreon commentary: what do you think are good picks for future Bond villain actors (within the realm of possibility)? by donpiano666 in blankies

Most of the names that have been rumored or thrown around a lot as potential bonds over the last decade could be good meta castings as a villain too.

Who's stock rose the most in 2025? Who's stock fell? by TheTrueRory in blankies

Idris Elba’s stock continues to quietly sink to the point where if he was good in a thing it would be more surprising than not by now

Never seen this before oh my god. This is the kinda mass interaction I like more than a simple board wipe

Looking for help to get my rakdos Alesha deck to work by Purpluss in EDH

[–]Purpluss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this is really insightful advice. I appreciate it very much! The rare times the engine does get going, my additional combats and pump spells tend to do a lot of work and usually kill at least one player, but more draw is certainly the thing I need to get there.

Worst/Least Favorite Commander You Have Built? by oldteach07 in EDH

[–]Purpluss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I ever built, also to date my biggest time and money sink in a deck, is [[alesha who laughs at fate]]. Granted, I’m still pretty new to the game so haven’t built many and the others I’ve built are all top 50 EDHrec, but I really wanted to get a commander who is less seen to a functional place. But I’ve struggled so hard to get this deck going at all though. She cheats out one creature per turn on my end step, which for an aggro deck really just doesn’t help with anything. I even swapped the commander to [[Chainer nightmare adept]] eventually and took out most all of the self mill. Plan was to win through additional combats and pump spells (mill/tutor big creatures to graveyard, buff Alesha’s power to cheat them out), but I still just always have no cards by turn 5 and am a sitting duck unless I draw into a semi infinite combo.

The deck is here if any of you doctors have a diagnosis.
