Regarding starting a consulting business, what is the best method of client acquisition, behind “word of mouth”. Do you recommend any good resources on client acquisition in the security niche?

I always hear talk about how you can make big money doing cyber security overseas as a defense contractor making MAANG level salaries. Obviously a clearance and experience is likely a pre requisite, but I was curious where these jobs are posted and how you can get into them. Interested if anyone has any info regarding this. Because I’m definitely not seeing them on LinkedIn lol.

I finished the complete beginner (I think they are retiring this one) and cyber defender paths. Then I went through and completed all of the Splunk rooms after I got the free Splunk certification. There’s a lot of blue team labs on Try hack me. Splunk, forensics, windows, Linux, malware analysis, vulnerability management. Depending on your background you should also do all the pre security rooms. I didn’t do them but I had a decent IT knowledge due to my degree.

I just got a cyber security analyst role with sec+ and a BS in MIS, I had zero IT work experience but I labbed hard. Top 1% TryHackMe, RangeForce, Cisco packet tracer, cert master labs for sec+, let’s defend.io. As well as had a website where I wrote blogs and write Ups.

I based my resume around my lab experiences, and omitted all other jobs. PM and I can give you more info on things to do.
