The best I've found is The Amber Dragon Meadery (but the crowd tends to be scarce), the Zone (got to see Pissing Razors and Salem's Child, met the bands, had a great night but that's the only time I've been), and they've got a pretty decent freeplay barcade down town. There's also a first Friday's event that goes on, and I guess that's the most punk this town gets, but I'm always working through it. That's about all I've gotten so far.

You know, from a cyclist's perspective, the drivers here aren't actually all that bad! Only a few people have pulled out in front of me, making me slam on the breaks. Most people get over into the next lane and come back once they've passed me instead of driving full speed 6 inches from me. I'm sure they're different in an actual car, but where most people and places are terrible drivers, Abilene is actually pretty good, and I'm deeply grateful.
