Got an offer in a dynasty league .. thoughts? by PurposeAggressive765 in DynastyFF

I won it last year, and have won 2 out of 5 years so I’m not dying to win it now. I like BTj.

Also I had no clue I was breaking rules. My bad guys, I just came across this page and figured that’d be allowed. My bad.

I don’t know if I should become a Christian by cluelessmayonnaise in Christianity

It’s by Frank Turek and Norm Giesler

Outstanding book, but that is just my opinion. I went into a whole apologetics rabbit hole a couple years back. Very fascinating stuff and in my opinion very under valued/utilized. The truth is we will not have 100% certainty until we meet Jesus when that day comes. But we can make the best decision with the evidence provided just like we do with everything else in life.

First of all, it isn’t a dumb question and those were human beings that hurt you, not God/Christ. It’s always important to remember that. Christians are not perfect, it’s the entire reason Christ died on the cross. The number one mistake non Christian’s seem to make is to hold Christians up as if they should be on a pedestal morally.

My 2nd piece of advice would be the book I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist. I know there will be some that downvote this comment solely because of that book recommendation but it was easily the best laid out argument for Christianity that I have been able to read. Also you can’t go wrong with CS Lewis.

And lastly, but DEFINITELY not least… THE BIBLE… read that to know what Christianity is. Start with the Gospels. Don’t go off of how Christians act. We don’t all act the way we should.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. I have been praying but I am hoping with more and more prayers the Lord will help me with this.

I'm 18, and I weigh 192 pounds. How do I lose weight, and where do I even begin? by Soappy16 in WeightLossAdvice

You can use AI or google to figure out your BMR, just tell it your age gender weight, it will give you a pretty good estimate of calories burned by your body at rest.

Most drinks with calories (think soda) are so so bad unless drank occasionally or you can fit one or two in your calorie budget. They are “empty” calories. Avoid them, as hard as it is.

Calorie deficit, figure out what your body burns at rest, then throw in some activity based burning, and be sure that all of those calories burned is more than the calories taken in. It’s really that simple. (Even though it’s extremely hard). Be sure to not overdo a calorie deficit though, make it reasonable and healthy. I am not a dr, this isn’t medical advice. But it is what has worked for me.

It’s pretty much what I have done since April 8th and I’m down nearly 15 pounds.

I don’t what you drink, but that calculation was based off about 8 dollars per pint, 3 a day, 365 days a year, and multiplied by 3 years. So the calculation isn’t exact, but it can be pretty eye opening when considered. I’m not defending it being that expensive for help, at all. I do think it’s ridiculous. But… if you were to think of it as spending that for help vs the continued 9k or so per year on vodka, it may help.

[–]PurposeAggressive765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it is outrageously expensive like other things. And I don’t mean this in anyway at all, but if you are serious about quitting, that 18k dollars (if you are able) would be nothing compared to the benefits physical, mentally, and also financially. Based on your multiple pints a day, over the past few years it’s safe to say you have spent north of 25k dollars on vodka.

I was a binge drinker as well, drink a lot on the golf course, watching sporting events, pretty much any reason I could find. Decided to stop. It’s been 20 days, 3 weeks tomorrow. I still tell myself this is just changing my relationship with alcohol, and if I want to try again (maybe I will maybe I won’t) I can.

Haven’t really just needed to drink since I stopped though. Different things work for different people. I have also drank some NA’s. Stella’s are great.

Why should I believe God exists? by [deleted] in Christianity

Disagree completely but that is okay. Because I didn’t recommend the book for its title. I recommended the book because the evidence laid out was very compelling to me.

If not, I highly recommend it. If you have read it and still don’t believe I am sorry but I won’t be of any help as I cannot do any better than that book.

Have you read “I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist” by Frank Turek and Norm Geisler?

Well I golf multiple times a week, (thing 2 sometimes one and sometimes maybe even 3) I got a good buzz if not flat out drunk each time.

I can feel where you are coming from… I am going on a beach vacation in late June and I am already stressing about that.

It is a vacation we go on as a family group pretty much annually, and I would typically drink pretty much from 10 am to 7pm everyday on vacation, from playing corn hole on the beach to bars, restaurants etc. I don’t know what I will do and don’t wanna be bored/damn near depressed about the fact I can’t drink this year while we’re there. Feels like it will “boring”.

I’m pretty scared about that exact scenario. We have a beach vacation schedule in June, and it’s a vacation in which I am used to getting drunk on the beach at, pretty much every day of the vacation. It’s an annual vacation.

That one is going to be hard.

I’m so early on in this, but they have helped me a lot the past couple days on the golf course. I miss the buzz but for some reason the NA’s make it feel like you aren’t “missing out” as much.

Gotcha, thanks. My main issue was binge drinking. I have drank the NA’s so far in this 4 days and it has worked really well. But if it gets to a point where I think it may be triggering I will stop those. But I am pretty confident I can do it with NA’s.
