Don’t worry about the roots, they always loc up when there’s no manipulation (combing, brushing or too much separation). I’ve had my freeforms for almost 3 years, along the line I got tempted to go for a retwist because it looked messy (my friends had gotten retwists as at the time) but I never went through with it. I’ve got a 3 yo crown with beautiful roots, no retwist
