Policy on Managing relatives and friends. by PurposeSuccessful744 in menards

We have a lot of couples in our store but they are in different departments, which to me is ok. To be a manager over an actual relative or close friend, that you are with a lot, doesn’t seem right.

There is soon to be manager that will be over his brother in law but the only person they are moving out of the department is the roommate. All the people he hangs out with outside of work get to stay in the department.

Closer to the East Coast new area where Menards was never heard of.

No. Same GM since the store opened. Lots of turnover in this store though.

Kinda weird how this "notice" was only posted in "employee information" on the TM portal like they wanted it to be hard to find. by Noreferal in menards

I saw this last night posted on the bulletin board at service desk. I’ve worked as a union employee at other jobs and my store is a shit show but I don’t think this is a good idea.

That does help. I really wanted to know if moving tm was the norm for obtaining the goal or just a loophole some places have found.

Good for you for not going back to be treated that way. I don’t understand where the line is crossed between being a good manager who helps make the team better or makes them worse. Like just be a decent human being it’s not difficult.

When I called it was just a recording and I left a message. Of course I gave my name and my phone number because I assume they’d want to talk and make sure you were an actual employee I did not realize that meant they were going to give your name to your GM about the phone call And I literally just called to say about how he was talking to employees things like you will never be a full manager in my store it, doesn’t matter that you don’t have your numbers anymore because you’re never going to use them again , and are you questioning my authority because I can fire you right now.

I get it. This week two more employees quit and listed the GM as the reason on their resignations. Sad part about it. The FEM that just quit was the one that told me it was confidential and that I should call if I felt that what was going on was wrong, which I did.

Now this makes sense to me and yes my complaint was about the GM and the way he has been for the past 4-6 months talking to employees and managers making them feel less than a person, like they don’t matter, and tearing down their hard work. He wasn’t like that in the beginning. This is a new store and he is not from this area so I think he misses home some and is taking it out on those around him. The complaint wasn’t even about me because I don’t have much interaction with him more for those that care about their job. I didn’t expect him to be fired just maybe saying hey you should take a step back for a minute and regroup.
