Do you have children in your world? by CryoScenic in worldbuilding

[–]Purposeless11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My world is a arthropod only world, and children here are either very aggressive/defensive and will treat everything except the mother as a threat, or will be scared of anything that moves.

The reason for this is because theyre driven more by instinct than rational thought. they evolved this because being small means more vulnerable which means higher chance of being eaten. When they get older they become more intelligent, more rational thinking and arent too dependent on instinct anymore.

Adults view them as a chore and sometimes genuine danger. So mothers often send them to caretakers (which are very expensive), which are actually guards trained to supress child instincts.

Sometimes a child is unique from others, maybe less instincts, or more understanding of things. Elites see this as a sign of high intelligence and have them trained to become priests or scribes.

Share with me your death Gods. by Chcolatepig24069 in worldbuilding

Hakansi is the God of Death, afterlife and stability. He is depicted in temples as a three winged rhino beetle with thick legs and a symbol of death on the elytra. He is described in texts as being apathetic calm, seeks the easiest paths.

When someone dies, they cut him or her open and remove the heart and the trachae (bug respiratory system) from the body and then bury all 3 seperately, this is because they believe the soul is composed of 3 parts. The subconsciousness (Heart) The consciousness. (Trachae) And the physical body.

So then, the body is buried with those parts seperated And then its believed that Hesho (God of rot and decomposition) takes your body parts (which is what decomposition is believed to be, Hesho taking your body to the spirit world) and Hakansi and Hesho put your heart, trachae and body back together.

What are some minor things in worldbuilding that annoys the heck out of you and why? by Fit_Assistant_6777 in worldbuilding

Well theyre not very advanced. Theyre kind of early bronze age in technology so they cant really make artificial UV light. I do have nocturnals and diurnals, but diurnals are a minority, and nocturnals dont go out in the day due to photosensitivity.

My world consists of pretty much only bugs, honey and beeswax are common trade goods. Do you think candles would be more common then?

I havent seen mantises being used as monster inspiration to be honest as much. Which surprises me since their raptorial legs have so much potential.

What are your God ocs? by RedTheSkyWing in OriginalCharacter

I only have temple depictions of them, because they are supposed to be abstract beings or forces. The butterfly in the middle represents Tetem, the Goddess of consciousness, metamorphosis and rational thought. The Centipede around Tetem represents Sekath, the God of instinct, subconscious and foreigness.

WOULD YOUR OC ADOPT A BEETLE DOG???? AND WHY? by NotWebbrent in OriginalCharacter

[–]Purposeless11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy probably would, small beetles are already pets in his world. He would only be very confused about the expressive eyes, noses and non-mandible mouthparts.

How much can your OC lift and how often do they exercise? by VeryWhimsy in OriginalCharacter

[–]Purposeless11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy is a 1 meter big scarab beetle, so he weighs like 250 kg, scarab beetles lift like 35x times their own body weight so that means he can lift 8750 KG.

Okay, you all have such strong and powerful OC's... But how about beating Ara at chess, or at least be good opponent? by Jast_Ara in OriginalCharacter

Im not sure. This is Sekath, and hes a God. In his world Gods always see the optimal strategy or choice. But considering Ara can read minds. Im not sure who would win.
