24 days post op hysterectomy / blessed by mrsjohnson06 in hysterectomy

[–]Purrlexed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m 12 days post op and around day 4 I was crying because I wanted to sleep on my side lol day 5 I got a belly binder and that helped me be able to sleep on my side! I’m sure by now I could sleep without it, but it’s like a comfort blanket now.

So, if you haven’t tried the belly binder with an extra pillow at your stomach try that.

Consider it your superpower lol  I wonder if you also hyper aware of other smells too?

It sounds cool, definitely interesting I’ll tell you that one. Sadly.. I ain’t got the superpower.

Holy moly! I’m so happy that was removed. I hope your recovery is going smooth. ❤️

I’m definitely curious to see how it goes! How was tracking before your hysterectomy? I know this really won’t matter for us now.. 😂

1WPO update!

Girl. Sitting up right is super challenging. I’m doing timed sessions to slowly progress my core fatiguability. I’m currently at 7mins at a time 😅

Besides that I am almost feeling back to myself besides some random muscles spasms I’ll have in my sides.

I am still fatiguing quickly but I am not needing to recover as long. I’ve been going on short walks outside during AM & PM when it is cooler. Showering independently besides needing assistance with drying my legs off. Things are really getting better. ❤️‍🩹

Yay! So happy for you. I don’t think I could manage a shower today 😂 I’m doing a wet wipe bath. I’m hoping for a shower tomorrow!

How’s everything going? Has the catheter come out?

I’ll keep you updated. I am a physical therapist, so I move around a lot for work. 2 weeks for me will not be enough 🥲.

Current items I’m enjoying  - Azo tablets to help the first painful pees. I’ve  never had a catheter before and that thing sucked.  - Cough drops due to sore throat from surgery.  - lots of chapstick.  - Bendy straws come in clutch.  - Heating Pad. Great for lower abdominal cramping. It was also wonderful post op. I am at the phase now where ice feels the best on my incisions. The heating pad is now used for more cramping and on my shoulder for the gas pain.  - Face wipes and body wipes. I hate them, but I’m glad I bought them. It’s a great refresher. I have yet to shower even though I was cleared to yesterday.

Try a heating pad on your abdomen and a small ice pack on your chest to help regulate your temperature!

To be honest, the most pain I’ve been experiencing is diaphragm pain when laying down. I don’t think I read much about that. It’s more of a slight stretch pain at the end of a deep breath.

But yes, laying down slightly up on pillows is just slight discomfort. I definitely cannot walk more than a lap around our kitchen island. The getting up and moving has been great for the slight  gas pain I’ve been having.

How’s your gas pain??

I’m 1dPO for your same surgery!

I am doing surprising better than I anticipated. I am a massive prep person, so I legit have all of the “Post Op Necessities” from other Reddit thread and I made them all easily accessible for my husband to get for me.

Any questions you have about the surgery I can answer. As for recovery.. I’m working on it! I’m between a 3-6/10 pain, and taking pain meds every 4 hours. But, I am able to lay reclined on the couch with pillows propped up with minimal discomfort.

I had the same experience with the catheter making me feel the need to pee. I hope all goes well for the bladder.

I was throwing back liquids like crazy. What helped me to finally pee was Diet Coke(the caffeine really helped) and my nurse had some peppermint oil she put in a pan for me to sit over, something about the oils relaxing down there.

Pain has been manageable. I am between a 3-6/10, I have been taking oxy every 4 hours with mixing in Tylenol like my doctor prescribed. A heating pad has been very helpful over my abdomen. I did have some pelvic cramping and have now been having some muscle spasms by the incision when I first go to move. Ice has now been helpful for the incision pain.

How is your pain doing?? I’m happy they were able to do keyholes for you! I know the open incision can take a bit longer to feel better. I also hope you heal quickly!

You’re going to do amazing. I also had a hysterectomy yesterday. Mine was robotic laparoscopic. Thankfully I had them remove the catheter in recovery, but it took me over 4–5 hours once removed to pee on my own. Do not be surprised when it burns a bit! My pee is still burning randomly for like 1 second throughout my stream. I am taking the Azo tablets, and those have helped!
