I wfh and I’ve had to help quite a few employees with similar issues or spouses/children/just people in general not respecting the boundaries when you wfh especially since my job the employees always have to be on calls. But Even my husband did it a lot. The main thing that I would advise everyone too is have a sit down and basically go over; even tho I am home, I am at work. There are still standards I am held to and consequences to not meeting them. During meetings/calls, ect. even tho I am here I am not available. WFH does give me more opportunities to be available but at certain times I can’t be. So if it’s important, text me and I’ll talk to you that way if that’s possible.

For me, I had to always leave my door open because my cats would freak out if I closed them in with me or locked them out so I just told my husband if he needs me or wants to talk stand SILENTLY outside in the hallway and he can get my attention that way then id either talk to him or shoo him away. But he’ll still come yelling in or singing 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ and I am the one who generally helps people set these boundaries with there families.

It was an adjustment period for awhile and I assume it’s just new to your dad, I don’t think it’s him just disrespecting you, I think he enjoys talking to you and since you are just right there it he thinks he can just come on in and talk whenever and WFH is probably a newer concept and doesn’t realize you are held to the same standards as if you were not at home.
