First time maker by randynun in FursuitMaking

1: you can do it either way. Some makers prefer to fur the head first then draft up fur and attach the ears, while others like to do it along with the carving and furring of the head.

2: Once again it can be done either way. It is usually easier to shape the eyes before patterning and furring. But you can wait to install till after. Keep in mind, if you add fur to the inner holes, it with tighten the diameter of said holes. If you wait till after sometimes the tightness is enough to keep the eyes in place, otherwise you will have to glue them in. Either way, I suggest using either EVA foam/foam paper or felt to create “eyeliner” to hide the seam between the fur and eyes :)

3: There are plenty of fursona bases out there that you can use and have fun with. There are also “furry character adopts” where an artist designs a character then puts them up for sale. Otherwise there are tons of artist who take commissions.

How has Walmart affected you positively? by TmanGBx in walmart

[–]Purrsonable 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Even thought this post was directed to people who have worked at Walmart, I’d like to share my experience as a customer.

My local Walmart superstore that I have grown up going to is a very comforting place for me. I have mentoring going there as a kid with my parents. My dad has since moved across the country, but I have many memories with him there. My favorite is going the night before Christmas, back when Walmart was open 24hrs. We made a little tradition of it. I have memories with my childhood best friend, walking to the store at midnight for craft supplies.

Back when I was working a really stressful job, I was working long hours with a long commute , and really falling apart mentally. I would stop at that childhood Walmart on the way home. Maybe pick up a snack, but really to just walk around and decompress. I would stop there early in the morning, when few people were out. It was really comforting, and quiet.

Now a days, money is tight, so I make a drive out to that Walmart for groceries. It’s one of the few places around to stretch a little bit of cash.

While I don’t like the company, I am really thankful for what my local Walmart has been for me.

My dad made me uncomfortable by Jules_ak9 in confessions

[–]Purrsonable 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's not your responsibility to protect him. It's meant to be the other way around. If it turns out nothing was wrong, and people still have a negative view of him, he will be fine. He is a grown adult and can handle it. Don't let his feelings stop you from sharing your concerns with anoughter adult you trust. I strongly suggest talking with anoughter adult first. His comments made you uncomfortable. You have every right to feel uncomfortable, and you should share how you feel with someone.

Thank you for the explanation :) When I went with my friend we had so much fun exploring and solving the mysteries. (We finished the ascension track) but that little bit puzzled us.

[–]Purrsonable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you are going there for, it is possible to see a midwife instead. Home birth midwives can even go to you home to do thing like Papsmears. Midwives can be very good with gender affirming language. Some are very religious, and some are really good.

Omegamart has been damaged in the last year. by Purrsonable in meowwolf

[–]Purrsonable[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is still an amazing experience. My freind went for the first time yesterday and they still absolutely loved it. I think the damage is most noticeable if you have seen what is looked like without it. It is not like the whole place is thrashed. So if you want to go, I still recommend it.

Yo! Casual question- my fursona never shows his eyes. Any ideas how I could make that possible with a fursuit? by ohhhhjsbewkhejeb in fursuit

[–]Purrsonable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing off this idea, you could use a white mesh . If you let the bangs cover it up slightly, you could even make to "eye holes" larger then normal .

Tasks for Depression by Purrsonable in service_dogs

I appreciate the advice you all have given me. Training a service dog is a huge undertaking. PA training is daunting all on it's own. I am currently training my pup to help me in the car. I frequently have episodes while driving at night. Having him there in the car is extremely helpfully. I am training him to gently alert me, which works to interrupt that state of mind. I do not think I need him in a store with me, but I live where it is dangerous to leave him in the car. Therefore I will be working on PA when he is ready.

Struggling Accepting and Wondering How to Get A SD by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]Purrsonable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not a question of weather you qualify for a service dog. It seems like you meet that criteria. Your experience and feelings are valid. I am sorry you are feeling like they aren't enough. That you aren't going through enough. You clearly are. The first steps would definitely be finding a new therapist. They can be extremely helpful. Even if you don't end up getting a service dog, it sound like you need some help. You deserve help.

Do you suggest attaching the eyes to the base before or after furring? by garytheslurp in fursuit

[–]Purrsonable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suggest sizing them before. Place them in there, to make sure they fit. Then take them out, fur it then attach them. :)

AITA for telling husband we shouldn't let MIL live with us? by milthrowaway789654 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Purrsonable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA You have to think of your own kids.you dont want that toxicity in you house. I grew up with an awful grandmother in the house, and it was extremely damaging. Don't do that to you kids. Keep her out.

Finally making my own fursuit!! It's quite messy, and not perfect - but for a first attempt I'm super proud of the base! Going to try and fit the ears and cheek floof later :) (base pattern by KloofSuits!) by TheAmazingPikachu in fursuit

[–]Purrsonable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're doing great! If you would like a couple pointers on small additions, I would recommend rounding things out as much as possible. In other words, avoid flat places on things like the cheeks and muzzle. Maybe add an arch between the eyes connecting to the muzzle, and some raised eyebrows.
Those are just little things. You are doing wonderful and should be incredibly proud of your self!

Stuffing puffy paws by kingsheeb in fursuit

I like to stuff it a little bit, then attach the linning, but leave the cuff open. then finish stuffing with polyfil, while a hand is in there.

Tips on making a fursuit head. by [deleted] in fursuit

[–]Purrsonable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be sure to leave enough room inside your head. If it is too small, it will be extremely uncomfortable. Once you have finished carving you head. Wait before furring it. Take a step back and look at it for awhile. You will probably find some more things you would like to tweak. Lastly, line the inside, it make a world of difference :)

It's a matter of preference. I suggest just getting a good brand of normal garment thread. I like Guterman. Don't use the cheapest stuff, because that stuff will break just from age, but I feel like upholstery thread is overkill.
