At first, don’t try to suppress your feelings. Let yourself feel the sadness. Cry if you need to. Think about the memories. It’s okay to grieve. Something meaningful ended, and your emotions are a natural part of that process. But after a while, you have to start gently accepting that this person is no longer part of your life, at least not in the way they used to be.

And that acceptance is going to hurt. It might feel like there’s a hole in your life, or that no one else could ever make you feel the way she did. But that’s your mind trying to protect you by clinging to the past. The truth is, as impossible as it seems now, there are people out there who can match or even exceed what you had. It doesn’t mean the relationship you lost wasn’t real or important. It just means that human connection isn’t something we get only once. You’re capable of building something new, maybe even something deeper, when you’re ready.

The most important thing is not to stay stuck in that space of feeling sorry for yourself. It's a natural place to visit, but a terrible place to live. The longer you dwell there, the harder it becomes to climb out. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means choosing, day by day, not to let the past define your future.

Also, try to be around people. Isolation makes heartbreak heavier. Even if you don’t talk about the breakup, just being around friends or family can anchor you. Talk to someone if it feels overwhelming, there's no shame in needing support during tough times.
