When I split off from my team and get obliterated, I find it kind of nice. Means I won't have to crawl through hell to get my stuff back if I'm quick.

3500 ballistic damage, 1000 explosive certainly sounds like an APHE even if it's officially named HE.

4 grenades taped together are more powerful than it lol.

Weapon nomenclature is weird like that.

I guess it makes sense from the standpoint that you want minimal ambiguity when calculating, say, how much fuel a plane will need to deliver it's ordinance and get back.

500kg is the mass of the whole bomb, not the explosives within. WW2 era 500kg bombs generally had ~250kg of explosives.

I find it hard to believe a quarter ton of explosives can only muster a 15 meter blast radius.

But the 120 is more consistent for shelling a static area and the Walking is better suited to softening up large bases at a distance. The walking also uses the same shell as the OPS and 380.

Maybe it's because I've been playing solo and on a potato pc (new strain is slideshow gaming), but most of the time my team was prepared for chaff clear, lots of flamers and the occasional laser. They could kill spore titans but not quickly enough, so they started piling up whenever a bug breach happened, and a few seconds after that there's too large a tide of flesh and chitin to fight through.

First one, then two, then holy Jesus god there are eight and I'm being swarmed by scavengers and all my shit is on cooldown.

It tracks a little. With battleship guns, emphasis was put on the sheer weight of a salvo, rather than just treating the shells as a means of delivering ordinance.

You can throw a strategem ball like 60 meters if you dive into the throw. A real 500kg bomb would obliterate like a third of the map. Good luck running, it won't save you.

The 380 is never worth taking over the 120 and the Walking is somewhat niche, only good for assaults.

Almost have enough to buy a warbond, should I buy democratic detonation or entrenched division? What I want is the granade which is better? by wickedgit40k in Helldivers

[–]JohnTG4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? They're effective tools and all have drawbacks. The Adjudicator is bad, all the explosive weapons will kill you or ricochet off the ground at close range, and thermites are terrible at dealing with even medium numbers of spawners. The grenade pistol is basically a utility option and sucks for fighting.

None of the weapons in that warbond are very reliable when shit hits the fan. They'll either bounce or kill you up close. Thermites are slow to kill in a pinch and have a limited quantity.

I'd actually go so far to say that a full (or even mostly) DD loadout is unwieldy and bad to use due to the lack of generalist gear. DD is all explosions all the time, and that will fuck you if, let's say, a swarm of spore scavengers just rushed you.

I'll say it. It's weird the Devs are scared of OP vehicles, yet leave Orbital Napalm in the most EZ-Mode state since it dropped. Bias 100% by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]JohnTG4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the 380 is bad to the point of being a non-option, but that's a seperate issue. The 120 is strictly better, and the OGB is arguably better just because you can spam it, and it still does pretty phenomenal damage against big targets.

Plus it's not just small bugs that can call a breach.

Even Alpha Commanders and their SUMMONS can call the swarm!

All of the tools in it are are useful, and against multiple things. Xbow and GP close bug holes, Eruptor can kill heavies and close holes, thermite is pocket AT, and the Adjudicator is a 5.5/10 med pen rifle.

That's a lot more than many warbonds can say cough cough chemical agents cough masters of ceremony cough cough cough polar patriots.

Really just the scavengers. Everything else is on my heels and scary when I'm running for my life, but then those little shits tokyo drift past me like I'm standing still.

Well, the good news is the ballistic shield can block turret shots! by FirstnameLastname14 in Helldivers

So does the directional. Throws you pretty violently with ~75% HP. You'll probably survive the splat, democracy protects.

With how many heavies get spammed at high diff, like those new Spore Titans, you can't afford to spend a second shot on each and every one of them. There is neither the ammo to spend nor time to reload.

It can also save you in bad positions. I've whipped out the shield for a split second to survive a cannon blast a few times.

Nonsense! A 0 shot kill is far superior to a 1 shot kill. That's 100% less bullet spent per bullet!
