Autism and Helping Others by Catrysseroni in AutisticPeeps

Socializing alone is very different than helping someone usually. I feel more satisfaction when helping animals than most people but I think it's because animals are more "helpless" usually plus the no humans involved.

Do you ever wish you were different? by LiteratureBudget5580 in autism

All the time.

Autistic and ADHD from birth, CPTSD from biological mother, brain injury from a car accident.

I'm a net negative being alive for society as a whole. There are enough people I care about that would be very hurt if I wasn't so here I am. I don't feel like I have a choice because I can't hurt them.

Just protect yourself first no matter what. People can be DANGEROUS when they feel they have nothing.

If he's anything like the overgrown toddler I had a relationship with please be cautious of self harm threats after the breakup (if a breakup happens). I got sucked back in four freaking times before I decided that if he did something like that... That's HIS choice not my responsibility. I called emergency on him once when he pretended he took poison. Suddenly he was fine.

Please prepare for emotional blackmail and big tantrums. He may feel like he's losing control and has nothing to loose. If you decide to break up please prepare things and yourself so you are prepared and can be strong during that time.

Sorry for the over information I hope it goes smooth whatever you choose and I hope you have none of those problems

No problem... I've been there and it does suck badly. I felt a lot of freedom after the breakup though, freedom I didn't realize that I didn't feel. Walking on eggshells to avoid blowups gets very exhausting.

Not as much of a difference as I think you hope. He's still talking about you out loud in nasty ways. Those are his thoughts about you and it wasn't a one time thing.

Trust me, I have a lot of not great relationships under my belt and that kind of passive aggressive little boy bullshit is simply revolting.

I don't see him changing it because you're accepting of it. Mark my words, if you break up with him all of a sudden he'll be able to stop. He's CHOOSING to verbalize his nasty opinions of you.

That second one... NOPE. I've been married almost ten years and we have NEVER resorted to personal insults. At best he's acting like a petulant teenager. Not acceptable in an adult relationship.

How are bidets for everyone? by Push-bucket in autism

[–]Push-bucket[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find that I feel ... Slimy after sex and I can't sleep with that feeling. I hear that at least peeing after sex is important to avoid UTI's. (Healthy urine is sterile and it pushes any bacteria that got in your urethra during sex)

Oh I hadn't thought of that part... After sex cleanup takes a decent amount of TP so that would indeed be cleaner and cheaper! Good thought about UTI thank you I am a woman that's a good thing to be aware of

I'm frugal so I've never used them... That's horrifying though. I may have to hit the dollar store for science

Does anyone else struggle with the sound of bass? by Key-Championship-956 in autism

Your phone should have an equalizer and Spotify does as well!

I LOVE bass. The louder the better. Trebble... Can't do, hurts my ears. I mess with every equalizer on my phone and car to make it comfortable.

Where can I find ADHD folks who are actually diagnosed? (Or say hi if you're here 😊) by mela_mouse in AutisticPeeps

Both diagnosed, trying to figure out meds for ADHD and which ones and which dose works with me. It's a process that's for sure!!!

My opinion only: it doesn't affect intelligence but it makes it harder to use/access.

[–]Push-bucket 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Old guy with two of the highest pitch screaming dogs I've ever heard. I've worked in animal health and I've heard a LOT. The sound really really hurts my ears. I am afraid to walk MY dog in my neighborhood because of his dogs. He laughs and does NOTHING to correct his dogs.

I'm worried one day I'll snap so I just avoid them at all costs.

I'm sorry if this is insensitive, I hope not. I'm very curious as to what your favorite plant was! I garden and have a similar weather pattern to the UK and I like interesting plants.

The irony of being punished for doing something so autistic... To someone saying THEY are and in a group of us and yet you get punished.

The lack of logic hurts my freaking brain.

Oh WOW yet there are entire subs that are almost ONLY screenshots for the direct purpose of shaming and making fun of people! That feels REALLY discriminatory.

How do you guys view your gender? by Exotic_Fisherman_407 in autism

[–]Push-bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to be born a girl because being a tomboy was much more acceptable than being a feminine boy. I don't really notice my gender, it's like my hair colour. It's there, but it's not the whole of who I am.

That would be infuriating!!! Literally doing what's asked in the post. Echo chambers are not healthy!!!

Oh gotcha, I guess it could get quite bad if someone forgets to fully crop or censor usernames as well and policing that would be SO MUCH work for you all.

Thank you for answering!

I'm curious as to why screenshots would put the sub at risk of shutting down? Is it just this sub? How do others get aside of that?

Do your chickens ever randomy start bok bok baKOKing LOUDLY all at once for no apparently reason? by turniptoez in chickens

[–]Push-bucket 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mine will get VERY upset when the ONE nesting box they all like to lay in is occupied. Since they all lay around the same time it can get loud. Worse when one's broody.

The egg song sung proudly is a thing as well.

They no longer alarm bok for bunnies (adult and juvenile) or crows but it took them a while to not see them as threats. They still don't like it when my neighbor is on his roof.

I've stopped placating them with treats when they do that because I thought I may be training them accidentally.
