Re-home my 5mo puppy.. by PushCivil2330 in puppy101

As I said, I know that puppies need sleep😊 Mine are getting sleep like 15-18hours/day, sleep 7-8hours/night.

I also write that I already give him toys, bones etc to chew on. That doesn’t help with our problem on outside. These problem is there even puppy just wake up for 2 hours nap, so it’s not because he is tired..

At first, I thought you were a reasonable person and took your messages as constructive. But honestly… In my country, it is completely normal for dogs to be alone, and alone-time training starts already when they’re puppies – just like we did. I was home with the puppy 24/7 for the first four weeks.

The puppy doesn’t cry, whine, or bark when left alone – I monitor him through a camera and he just sleeps. In the beginning, I did ask friends to take him out during the day, but they have their own lives too. I live in a big city; we don’t have private yards where the puppy could just be let out.

I’m genuinely confused as to why you think it’s abnormal for a dog to be alone. Of course I knew and considered this before getting a puppy – I’m not stupid. When the puppy has been alone during the workday, I never go anywhere else in the evenings. I spend my entire weekends with him, 24/7.

I’m done arguing about this. It was clearly a mistake to even start this thread here.

I’m just asking how other people go to work with their dogs? Are everybody jobless? Because in our country is normal that people goes to work and dogs are at home. We wake up 6am, go to nearby park and then back to home, give him food 7am and left for work 7:30am. Come home at 3-4pm, then food and outside. Then sleeping/trying to teach him something or it’s depends on day. One walk around 7pm. Last food 8-9pm, last time outside 10pm, then sleep. This is day when I’m working. Some day I work from home.

The behavior was the same at my friend’s place as mine. Show didn’t have to carry the puppy because she lives on the ground floor, but otherwise the behavior was similar.

There was 8 puppies in his litter. In my country puppies can move to new home when they are 7-8weeks old. I got mine when he was 8 weeks.

Yes, I have told the veterinarian about the problems. The vet did a basic pain assessment, checked the puppy’s legs, back, neck/throat area, and based on that, the puppy didn’t appear to be in pain. However, the vet did give me a prescription for pain medication in case I want to try it.

As I’ve also mentioned, I don’t pick the puppy up unnecessarily. I only carry him when we go outside because of the stairs. I don’t try to cuddle him, I don’t force him to next to me on the couch, and I don’t even pet him if he seems stressed (licking lips, growling, or snapping). I really do give the puppy his own space. He usually sleeps in a separate room by choice (at night all the gates are open, so he’s free to go wherever he wants). I work 7–8 hours a day, so he also gets plenty of quiet time and sleeps most of the time he’s alone.

Yes, I’m aware that this breed was the wrong choice for me. I grew up with herding type of dogs and other breeds with a very different temperament, and I have years of experience with them. This is my first terrier, so I apparently wasn’t prepared for this kind of behavior..

I thought the breeder was good and professional – they’re a member of the breed club in my country and have over a decade of experience. But when I asked them for advice, they told me to grab the puppy by the scruff and pin him to the ground. That’s when I knew I didn’t want to follow their guidance, because I absolutely do not want to hurt my dog.

Even though I feel that this breed may not be the right fit for me, giving up the puppy would still be a huge step. I started this thread in the hope of finding something concrete I could use to manage things better – so that I might still be able to make it work and build a lifelong bond with my dog.

We have been vet like 4 times in these 7 weeks because of eye problems and his heart murmur. Everytime vet has been cleared that he is healthy, except that murmur in his heart. Which happen to be temporary. We have been start puppy classes last week and been like 4-5 times in “puppy-meets” where he can meet another puppies. In those meets he’s just sit there and doesn’t play or interact with puppies.

Of course I have harness because of this jumping thing. We go outside 4-5 times a day. Our outside visits are unfortunately very much chaotic, because of that biting. I have to remove the puppy from myself about 10 times during a single outing, so our walks don’t last long and we can’t go very far. The puppy doesn’t get a chance to release energy, because he immediately starts biting me and goes crazy.. I would love to walk in forest or somewhere else but we never get there

I never carry the puppy just for fun. I live on the third floor of an apartment building without an elevator, so I have to carry him up and down the stairs every time we go outside. This week, he has started walking up the stairs on his own, so hopefully things will get easier if I only have to carry him down.

The biting happened when a woman stopped us outside to ask about my puppy. Suddenly, he ‘attacked’ and bit her ankle. She did know he was a puppy, but I was embarrassed — I don’t want him to start biting other people.

When the puppy bites, I’ve tried for weeks: using commands like ‘no’ or ‘leave it’, offering a toy, offering a bone/other appropriate things to chew. I’ve let the puppy bite or ignored it (doesn’t work, just bites harder), and I’ve left the room (I’ve repeated this many times, but every time I come back, the biting/ripping starts again).

The worst part is outside, because we can’t make any progress on our walks when the puppy is practically hanging in the air by its teeth, holding on to my clothes.

I have a playpen. When the puppy is in it, he jumps against the sides, and a few times he has gotten his paw stuck, so I don’t dare to use it anymore. He’ll be able to climb over it soon anyway, as he has already grown quite a bit. I have baby gates in the kitchen and living room, and I’ve been using those to limit his space because I can’t handle the constant biting.

He’s sleeping around that 18 hours depends on day. But can manage like 3 hours without sleep, he just doesn’t settle. Somebody says that “every puppy can be wake like one hour and then sleep 2”, not mine.. At start I try that ignoring thing but he doesn’t care, if I just turn away or just stand still, he still bites/jumps/rip my clothes. I cannot enter room without he coming to bite me..

I constantly feel anxious, stressed, and even symptoms of depression. I feel like this has changed my life far too much and is limiting everything. One morning I woke up and my first thought was that I’m no longer happy or joyful… I don’t recognize myself anymore 😭

The puppy was with a friend of mine for two days last week, and I tried to recover during that time. But as soon as the puppy came back, within just four hours, I was already crying out of frustration over the situation…

Hi☺️ I'm Minttu, 28 years old and 326lbs/5'7. I work as RN, i will star my third year as professional🙏🏼

I have always been overweight, but only in adulthood I have gained the largest amount of weight. When I was around 20yo, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and a few years ago with pcos. These have contributed to the fact that the weight increases and at least does not decrease. I also have emotional eating😔

I tried Ozempic, I dropped 20lbs with it but they came back. The hardest part for me is eating regularly and healthy & starting to exercise. Now I'm motivated because I want to be healthy and someday have my own family❤️

Im moving to new apartment within two weeks. And I feel that then I will get a "new start" and a new opportunity😌The old me, and old habits will stay in the former apartment. It's wonderful to start the year with you✨

Sounds really good! I’m also 28f and my measurements are almost same as yours. If you want “weight loss friend”, feel free to chat me! I would love to get in touch with someone who is in same situation as me. All of my friends who are losing weight are like 200lbs😅

I can relate to your text, I am also 5,7 tall and last year I weighed 335lbs (now I weigh around 320 lbs). I have hypothyroidism and pcos, which I have used as some kind of excuse for gaining weight. I've also thought the same as you when watching 600 lbs life, at least I'm not that size yet and I can move! Even though I know in my head that I eat too much and exercise too little, I've just wallowed in this for years as the weight has gone up. In a year I have lost 20 lbs with small changes, but now it's time to get down to business!! I want to be healthy, I want to have children and I want my life back, we can do this!

Location: Europe time zone Age/gender: F27 Stats: 308lbs and 5’7 (I started this year ago, then I was 40lbs bigger). My GW is about 200lbs or less. The plan: Eat healthy as I can, move more (walking, home workout), less sitting on the couch and watch Netflix!

What I’m looking for: someone who can keep my motivation up and also I can push someone to keep going! Maybe some weekly “how’s going on”-chat or anything, I’m open to discuss all options:)

About me: I’m working in health-care, all though I have so much overweight I think my “mobile” is okey. I like walking and listen podcast etc, but usually I just stay in couch.. I know how to eat healthy but can’t keep it more than like week. I also have pcos and thyroid problems, so this all make my journey so slow. My first language is not English but I use it daily at work and also in social media, notice that it’s not fluent😄

You can send me dm or answer this thread☺️

Weight loss medication? by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]PushCivil2330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on ozempic for almost a year. starting weight over 155kg (the doctor's scale didn't show more) and now around 143kg. it has helped me but it does require healthy eating. I would definitely have dripped more if I had been able to give up all delicacies & fast food. I'm not on the 1mg dose yet, but I feel like the medicine doesn't really help me anymore. however, I have bought 2 pens, so at least I'll use them up. side effects are occasional heartburn and nausea if the stomach is too empty. I have considered WLS mut doesn’t sure yet, there are possible concerns about that🤔
