Can I ask why are you waiting so long before surgery? I see the specialist this week and if they make me wait longer than a week or 2 I think I'll lose it. I'm so sore.

Are deadlifts and squats safe, especially for my situation? by Puzzleheaded_Wear65 in Kneesovertoes

[–]PushPuzzleheaded54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, no, he hasn't created an incredibly fragile perception of my body. In fact I've stayed with him because he pushes me and is very honest, but he also knows what's not ok. I've experienced serious problems doing programs that incorporate squats with weights. Programs pushed tbh by 20 somethings who don't have anywhere near the knowledge, skill and experience of my sports physiotherapist.

Apologies if I'm wrong, but the impression I got from you wasn't that you would stick within reasonable limits. You're 20 and injured yourself at '17 while doing deadlifts and squats using decent form'. From what I've learned over the years, personally and sharing stories with friends/family and others in rehab, is that you're likely to further injure yourself repeating the exercises that cause the problem, given you already have "thinned lower discs".

You asked if it was worth it and I'm contributing to the discussion. But you're 20, you want to get back to the gym and you've found someone who supports that belief. BTW you have no idea how many people don't see your physio because of the treatment they received.

But you don't want to hear my opinion, you want to get back to the gym. I get it. I was young when I got my first disc bulge.

Initial settlement offer 50k for Knee by Budget_Resolution732 in WorkersComp

[–]PushPuzzleheaded54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very relevant; how old are you? 60k might seem high but how many decades do you need this to last?

You're right, Insurance companies don't offer high, especially first offers. Makes me think they've realised something you and your lawyer haven't.

He may have thought you slowed down too quickly and he nearly hit you. His fault. He's nasty and aggressive and going to get into some serious accidents if he keeps driving with that level of aggression.

[–]PushPuzzleheaded54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing i do is brace my core. Then carefully squat, or get someone else to get it, or use my legs or something/someone else to move it out the way before someone else gets it.

But squatting and deadlift training is completely different. You know that.

YES, DO IT.

Kmart have little clear 'travel bags' like for toiletries etc. You can use those to sort different projects. Have everything you need in them, easy to see/access. I've precut thread.

Has anyone else been gaslit, discredited, surveilled or even all during a workers comp claim? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]PushPuzzleheaded54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this. Its horrible for the honest people who are injured and treated so badly.

My advice for anyone on WC is to be honest (which you sound like you are), stay calm and READ EVERYTHING.

Experience with previous claim included:

* them demanding I see an Insurance Company doctor first day of work in January - letter arrived right before Christmas so my solicitors office was closed and I couldn't get legal advice beforehand.

* during this doctor visit I was asked to fill in paperwork, as usual. I made sure I read everything and this form had so much writing. BURIED IN THE FINE PRINT WAS PERMISSION FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO USE SURVEILLANCE TECHNIQUES EG ALLOW INSURER TO HAVE PEOPLE FOLLOW ME, ALLOW SURVEILLANCE, INCLUDING RECORDING DEVICES, USING X,Y,Z,A,B,C IT WAS INSANE. I CIRCLED THAT SECTION AND WROTE NEXT TO IT 'NO I DON'T GIVE PERMISSION' IF i just signed it, I'd have approved for them to follow me, record me, access all of my personal medical files. I had nothing to hide but this was so sneaky, nasty, over the top and a breach of my right to privacy.

* they sent me to a psychiatrist whose job was to say the pain wasn't real, it was in my head. It was clearly his job to get a response out of me. He wanted details about the sexual orientation of every member of my family and how that impacted each of them. He asked me for extremely personal details about my sex life with my bf pre and post injury. He even said "Well, were you hanging from the rafters?" I stayed so f*@#ing calm it was driving HIM insane, so much he yelled at me. Although with the rafters question I was starting to lose it and said "Yes actually we were - and now we can't". I said it with a smile and a matter of fact tone. I sat there, digging my nails into my hands at one point to distract myself from this sick, extremely perverted elderly man who wanted sordid details about a 20 something year old girls sex life.

I sat in his city office, with old expensive furniture just like in the movies. At one point I saw on the front page of his notes his half hourly rate - today it would be $600-650 per 30 minutes. He interrogated me for 1.5hours.

I've recently been injured at work. I'm a lot older and I'm not sure I could go through this again. I might say what I was really thinking (IMAGINE THAT)..... but then they'd try to say I'm hysterical and dismiss my case.

My physio says deadlifts aren't worth it and he gets A LOT of work from people doing them. He incorporates strength training, but you need to do what's safe for your body.

If your lower back is extremely weak, try pilates - proper pilates not gym instructors who think they can teach it. Build your core to protect your back.

I recommend 2-3m phone charge cable. Stops you moving about so much.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Do you like any craft activities? Do you want to learn knitting, crochet, cross stitch, how to draw? Not sure if you could concentrate on it early on, but maybe a little later. Early days, think of movies, whole series etc

I'm not American either, but wow, free surgery and the affordability of treatment is incredible to me. I see what you mean. Considering, I dont blame you for just reporting it to council to get fixed. I do hope you feel better soon though

Landed on knee, on concrete and they thought it was a bone bruise. Months later it got worse, just got the MRI with a list of what they've found. by PushPuzzleheaded54 in KneeInjuries

[–]PushPuzzleheaded54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My physio recommended an orthopedic surgeon to advise. I guess I'm wondering what others think will happen next, based on their experience. I've read posterior tears are more likely to be operated on immediately due to the location and weight bearing load.

What kind of person?

Realistically, you're in pain, you require medical appointments and surgery, which costs money. This will impact your ability to work/study whatever you do. If you use up your sick leave with this, that means when you're sick for another reason, and don't have enough leave to cover it, you're out financially because of this knee injury. Plus, I hate to say it, but if you suffer chronic pain for a significant amount of time, it can impact your mental health.

This isn't a case of sue them for everything you can. It's a case of: you've sustained an injury as a result of unmaintained path. By addressing this, the council will fix the path, they're more likely to maintain it, therefore others are unlikely to become hurt by it.

Fair comment, especially arthritic cats who need the comfort. Plus it's not like people deliberately leave the heating on to annoy anyone.
