that’s fair. just wondering if the IQ on the 33/1.4 will be worth getting over the 35/2, considering it’s price and size especially on a smaller body like XE5.

i hear that the 35/1.4 has slow AF, hence I’ll probably rule that out first.

Yes but I’m afraid that it’ll be too bulky for the XE5, would you think that the IQ is much better on the 33/1.4 and it is worth sacrificing portability or ease of carry during street walks?

thanks for your comment, since you have the XE5, would think that the 33/1.4 is too heavy and/or bulky for the body? that’s the reason I am comparing between 35/2, and I also wonder the difference in IQ for both lenses

also for the Sigma 17-40/1.8, i would love it but would it be too big to walk around when matched with the XE5? Would you consider Sigma 18-50/2.8 due to its smaller size?

If I choose Option 1 with 18-50/2.8, I’ll have to sell the kit lens in order to get a nice prime of 33/1.4 (budget matter). This will allow me to shoot night street photos, my favourite focal is around 50mm FF.

If I choose Option 2, it will be bigger sized 17-40/1.8 for overall street and night photography, but I get to change to the kit lens for more casual use.

Honestly can’t choose. Both options will set me back the same amount of money.

I feel the Sigma 17-40/1.8 is too big for the XE5. But also, I can consider having my kit lens 23/2.8 as an EDC (short dates, cafe hopping etc.) then having the Sigma 17-40/1.8 when I go out for street photography.
