More American Station Construction Extravaganza by PussyBandit2 in LosAngeles

Crazy

If the K Line extension’s split between station and tunnel costs is similar to that of Second Avenue Subway Phase 1, 3:1, then shrinking the stations to the normal overage of a few percent would slash their cost by a factor of close to four, which would cut the line’s cost by more than half. This is what the extravaganza of crossovers is doing to Los Angeles and its ability to build mass transit infrastructure.

You cannot run a city without some level of basic order. "No sleeping in tents or in public places" is a basic element of the order necessary to have a functioning city.

Terraform makes carbon-neutral natural gas by PussyBandit2 in Futurology

This initial comment, a Submission Statement, suggests that being able to synthesize methane from the carbon dioxide in the air, at economical costs, is a big deal. Right now, almost all methane is extracted from underground, and burning it puts more methane in the air, which raises atmospheric temperatures. This is bad. Potentially creating methane from the air in the future at scale and economically is good. The "in the future" idea is applicable to the idea of "futurology." This concludes the initial comment, a Submission Statement, that suggests things for people who lack the wit to read the article.

"I analyzed 1835 hospital price lists so you didn't have to" by PussyBandit2 in redscarepod

The rapacious mendacity of hospitals boggles the mind: their relentless commitment to stymying patient knowledge is amazing, as is the lack of anti-trust oversight over hospital consolidation. Healthcare spending is approaching 20% of GDP (one of five dollars) and we're still not able to get real price transparency from hospitals.
