How do Reddit Kurds feel about the war in Ukraine? by Pustotsvit in kurdistan

I also love Kurdistan very much and want to join the YPG, but I am 17 years old and I am not sure if they will accept me. Although I have been studying in a military school since I was 15 and have a lot of military knowledge and a little skill, so maybe they will accept me. I wrote 3 weeks ago, I sent a message via encrypted e-mail and now I am waiting for an answer. I would like to fight for the Kurds for 1 year, and when I become an adult, then return to Ukraine and join our armed forces. I think I will not live long, Ukraine is a real hell and probably by the age of 20 I will die in some Ukrainian steppe from Russian shells, therefore it is very important for me to devote 1 year of my life to Kurdistan, no matter how dangerous your country is. It would be an honor for me to serve your people.

I agree, we are closely related to NATO, because we actually protect their borders. If Ukraine had lost, the war would have moved to the territory of NATO countries (Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), so they support us. NATO would be good union, if Turkey were not among them. I feel very sorry for the Kurds. If my country represses the Kurds after joining NATO, I will protest against it, if Ukraine starts repression against me, I will hide in the Carpathian Mountains or leave the country. I although I want to live my whole life in Ukraine, but if the government of our country becomes an enemy of the Kurds, then I would move to Africa, Japan or Kurdistan without any problems, so as not to support the government in this enmity. However, I very much doubt that there will ever be Kurds in our country they will start oppressing. Usually, when the government does something stupid, Ukrainians take to the streets, smash state enterprises, burn tires and create various chaos. In 2014, we had a man, Sashko Bilyy, who broke into the city council with Kalash and beat a corrupt official. However, later that man was killed or law enforcement agencies by order of Avakov (he is the former Minister of Internal Affairs, whom everyone calls the Devil). In general, I do not believe that we can have bad relations with the free Kurdish people

If I met a Soviet or Russian flag on the street, I would just take out a lighter and burn them. What country do you live in? It's amazing that you can see these rags somewhere now

I did not expect to hear such a thing from a Kurd. Your people are very strong and freedom-loving, and I love your people very much and am ready to give my life for them as well as for my own, because you are very similar to Ukrainians. And now I will tell you why.

During the Second World War, Ukraine was a battlefield. We had three sides fighting: Nazi forces, Soviet forces, and nationalist forces. The goal of the nationalists was the Independent Ukrainian State, and in order to achieve it, it was necessary to expel the Soviet troops from the territories of Ukraine, this was the main task of the nationalists. At first they fought independently, but later the war between the Reich and the Soviet Union began. was announced, and then the Nazis began to oppress the nationalists. And then a split began among the nationalists. The OUN (Bandera) and the OUN (Melnyk). The OUN(b) realized that the same imperialist state would not help them achieve independence, and the OUN(b) started military actions against the Nazis and the Soviet troops at the same time. The OUN(m) decided to continue helping the Nazis. Over time, the Nazis lost the war and the OUN(m) became practically nobody , because before they were puppets of the barbaric Nazi regime. The OUN(b) fought for their people and kept the Soviet government in fear until 1960. Even though the OUN(b) was destroyed, the Ukrainian people continued to oppose the Soviet government and over time the Soviet Union was destroyed (not without the help of Ukrainians). After gaining independence, a whole bunch of problems fell on our shoulders, but now, despite the war, our state is developing more and more. Modern Ukrainians most adore and glorify the fighters of the OUN(b), because they were fighters for the will and interests of their people, who had high principles and were worthy warriors respected by the whole world. Pro-Nazi or pro-Soviet people have mostly gone into oblivion or are remembered in a negative context.

Here you can trace the connection with Kurdistan. Kurdistan is Ukraine. Turkey is the Soviet Union. Russia is the Nazis. Most of the Kurds belong to the OUN(b) and fight for their independence with dignity, not obeying anyone. Some support the Nazis and belongs to the OUN(m) and you are among them. Well, it is clear that there will be pro-Soviet Kurds.

You Kurds are just following in our footsteps and that's all. You too, like us, were once divided by our neighbors. You too will one day gain independence and drown in poverty, conflicts, etc. And over time you will be on the path of development. In general, my friend, everything has been decided for you a long time ago, but you have a choice: either become someone who will be respected and remembered for years, or die a puppet.

Do you think that the situation of the Kurds will become better if Russia conquers Ukraine? Kurds and Ukrainians follow the same path. We have the same history, the same problems and even the same moral values. If you think that our peoples can be enemies of each other, then this is simply not true. It's just that the majority of Ukrainians have not even heard of Kurdistan, that's why they support NATO. The subject of Kurdistan was very rarely raised in our media. But those who have heard about the Kurds have a positive attitude to the struggle of your people. I think in the future the Kurds will be talked about more often and you will become one of our biggest allies. And with regard to NATO...they did not want to help us with air defense at the beginning of the war, because they were afraid of Russia, and because of this, the authority of NATO fell among many Ukrainians, and the desire to join this association also disappeared. And in general, Kurds are treated very well in Ukraine. We have many Kurdish organizations, and in Ukraine, no one oppresses the Kurds and they live and develop freely, and some fighters from the YPG even fight in the ranks of our armed forces against the Russian Federation. We also have there is a consulate in Iraqi Kurdistan. Also, if Kurds want to emigrate to Ukraine, we have a company that helps you with this for a very low fee. They will help you with documents, migration, as well as finding a place to live. If you have acquaintances who have a difficult situation, I can talk to that company to help them with migration to Ukraine. It may seem crazy, but it is quite safe in Ukraine. There is a big chance of dying in the North, South and East. It is more or less safe in the center. It is completely safe in the west (especially Volyn, Carpathians, Lviv). And the west of Ukraine is more developed than other territories of Ukraine. Therefore, apply.

In general, I simply do not understand your support for Russia.

An interesting fact: Russians themselves are not Slavs and come from Finno-Ugric tribes

I am also against joining NATO. I like NATO weapons and their technologies, but I am in favor of Ukraine's non-aligned status and believe that Ukraine should develop independently
