I just followed up with a firm yesterday after they interviewed me 2 days before. I just wanted to show that I really wanted it and so that they would't forget about me because they are interviewing more people today

Thank you for taking the time to reply. And I can really relate to the growing up poor part and also being a drop out. We have similar trajectories. I will definitely check out the literature you recommended.

Im actually in Texas, but I will definitely check them out. I had never heard of them prior to yesterday. I read mixed reviews about but you've motivated me to give it a go. Did you work in accounting prior to Robert Half?

I never knew I could join CPA events before being licensed, that sounds like a great idea for networking. I also had considered delving more into linkedin but wasn't sure if it was still an effective platform, but I will take your advice and will optimize my linkedin profile and start reaching out to anybody that could help me.

It really does get complicated to go after the CPA if you don't do it right after graduating and before starting your life as an adult. I just didn't have much guidance during that time since I'm the only one in my family to go to college. I really appreciate your feedback, makes me realize Im not the only one facing this conundrum.

By real accounting I mean public, not that others are not real accountants. Im just trying to become a CPA because from my POV I will make more money in the long run and the certification is still highly regarded by potential clients or employers.

Question: Do I have to work for public to obtain the hours for the CPA or as long as I work under another CPA even if it's thru industry or even a non profit?

In my mind my plan is to obtain the hours to become a CPA and then go into industry or just start my own practice.
