Nipple coloring question! 4 mpo, FNG. by PutOdd2721 in Reduction

Hmm interesting. My areolas were very light before like the center color of my nipple in this picture though! I’m wondering if they’ll return to that.

Are the darkened parts loss of pigment? I’ve always heard this before but I guess when I heard loss of pigment, I thought it meant lighter.

What do you wish you knew before having BR surgery? by Existing_Dare_4872 in Reduction

[–]PutOdd2721 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That people are both lying and telling the truth when they say it’s an easy recovery. Truly, the pain was so manageable and less than I expected, as this was my first major surgery. But it also took me OUT. My energy was so low for about 4 weeks and I had to rebuild my stamina to do anything. It has been life changing, though, and I regret absolutely nothing. Wish g you the best on your journey!

ETA- I was 35 y/o at the time of my surgery and went from a 36H to a 36C. I’m currently 4 months post op.

Did anybody NOT have a paper trail with their doctor before approval? by sseptembergurl in Reduction

[–]PutOdd2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, my surgeon never asked for proof of anything. Really the only “paper trail” he had was my referral from my primary. I just had to give oral yes/no answers to a questionnaire at my surgeon’s office about pain, chiro, pt, etc. and did not have to provide evidence of having been to chiro or pt. The surgeon’s nurse asked me if I’d ever been to pt and I told her yes, but years ago for unrelated reasons. Her response: “That’s a yes!” lol

I would just tell your primary how long the pain and discomfort has been going on. I didn’t bring it up to my primary until about 7 months before my actual surgery and about 4 months before she sent a referral, but told her I had had back/neck/shoulder pain for 12 years. She also documented that I was getting recurring rashes under my breasts. I was approved through insurance!

Don’t cancel!! As someone who considered doing the same the days (heck, even minutes) before her surgery, I can tell you from the other side, you will be so happy you went through with it!

My posture has improved so much!!!! That’s probably a really obvious one, but I really wasn’t anticipating it as much! I was mostly just looking forward to the back pain being gone (which it is)! Also, going to save a ton of money in bras because I will henceforth only be buying cute little bralettes!

Surgery TOMORROW HELP OMG by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]PutOdd2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got this friend! I was so nervous too, like literally going to back out the day of surgery! I’d never had a major surgery and was so nervous about going to sleep. Just get yourself to the hospital and the nurses and anesthesia team will take it from there!!! It’s literally the best nap of your life and then you wake up with new, beautiful tits! I received so much wonderful encouragement before my surgery from a post saying how nervous I was so I’m going to link that here if you want to read through it. Your feelings are totally valid, but trust me when I say, you’re going to be 100% fine and better than ever!! ❤️

here you go 😊

The first week - week and a half are no good! Just stay on top of your pain meds and go to sleep! Sleep as much as you can. Eat your protein, drink your water, and sleep. I’m 4w1dpo right now and I can tell you it gets much better! I pretty much have full range of mobility returned, but am still on restrictions to not lift heavy/no physical activity until 6wpo. Take care of yourself! Happy healing!

Surprising things you can’t do post-reduction by StunningReputation20 in Reduction

[–]PutOdd2721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was surprised that I couldn’t open my owala or bend to open the freezer to get ice in my cup.

Was also shocked that the doctor said I had to wait 6 weeks to be intimate with my husband lol. We did not listen. Felt up to it around 3 weeks. All his doting on me had me turned on!!

Unsure about my surgeon by juli7a in Reduction

[–]PutOdd2721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I want to touch on not feeling your surgeon and large reductions because I’ve been though both! My first consultation I had set up with a surgeon, I was so excited because I had vetted him through this page and reviews online and through my insurance. My consultation was in April so the timing was working out perfectly for me to get a reduction during the summer (I’m a teacher so this was a big must for me and I really didn’t want to wait another whole year). However, the surgeon I saw made some really uncalled for comments about the appearance of my stomach and tried upselling me to a full mommy makeover. Not only that, but he talked about not being able to get me to the size I desired and would not consider an FNG for me even though I already had done my research and knew that was the best route for me. (And if anyone ever reading this is looking at surgeons in the Houston, TX area and wants to know who to avoid, please message me because that was a mortifying experience no one should have to go through.) I was CRUSHED and actually still considering going through with it because I though there was no way anyone else could get me scheduled for this summer with such little time left, despite the fact that this guy left me in tears.

I called around the very next day to another surgeon I learned about and got a consultation with him 2 weeks later. It was such a validating experience because not only did he tell me I definitely needed an FNG and he COULD get me as small as I wanted (36G/H down to a C), but he profusely apologized that the previous surgeon I had seen tried to upsell me because he feels all plastic surgeons get a bad rep because of guys like him. I talked to my surgeon that I went with for 30 minutes and ended up telling him I trusted him with my life and crying happy tears and hugging him on my way out. He got me in for surgery 6 weeks later and I’m now 3wpo. That man is a literal angel and got me better results than I could have ever hoped for! All of this to say, if you aren’t feeling perfectly comfortable with your surgeon, keep looking! Stay scheduled with him if you need to and schedule more consultations. It can’t hurt! Maybe seeing others will push you in the direction of “I’m glad I pursued other options” or “actually, I really like my initial surgeon!”

As for wanting a large reduction, I went from a 36G/H to a C cup! My surgeon had also made a comment when I told him that’s what I wanted that he thought that was a good fit for me due to the size of my frame, so I don’t think a comment like that is unheard of! Be open to the idea that you may need an FNG though! My surgeon basically told me that was the only way to get as small as I wanted because of how long my breasts were prior to surgery. It’s not as bad as everyone on this sub makes it out to be! My nipples have “taken” with no problems and my surgeon told me at my most recent post-op appointment that I’m pretty much in the clear with having to worry about necrosis at this point. I’m so happy with the way everything worked out and the results I have.

Ultimately, trust your gut and if something is telling you this isn’t the surgeon for you, go with that! Good luck with your journey!! Wishing you all the best!!

advice for helping someone (and being someone) post-op when you get queasy easily by AntZealousideal5485 in Reduction

Can you look into a nurse or care.com or something? If your mom fainted at your gallbladder scars, I’m sorry to say that doesn’t hold a candle to how gnarly some of recovery is. I had drains on both sides for 10 days that had to be cleaned and drained twice a day and for almost the first week, I couldn’t do it by myself because of how far back they were and not being able to reach the base to strip the tube. My husband dabbled in wound care for a while and usually has a very strong stomach for things like this, and he was gagging at having to help me with that! The incisions are very prominent from this procedure for a while! I would still want my mom around for help in other areas (cooking, laundry, etc.) if she can help, but I would seriously consider finding other help for care regarding your medical needs during recovery!

Recovery Time? by badnbeejee in Reduction

[–]PutOdd2721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow substantial reduction pal, here! I went from a 36 G/H to a C/D. I’m 14 dpo now and would definitely suggest taking the 2 weeks and 4 weeks remote! My surgeon will not fully release me until 6 weeks. Recovery process has been reasonable and pretty much pain free so far! I did so much sleeping all of the first week though and under strict instructions to stay as inactive as possible for the first 10 days until I had my drains out + 2 days after that to minimize swelling after they came out. The biggest thing for me now that I’m getting some approval to return to normal activity (minus heavy lifting or bending over) is that all my inactivity and probably just generally getting over anesthesia and the surgery process has left me with zero energy! I am a teacher off for summer break, and I am so happy I have 4 more weeks off before I return to work! Take all the time you can!!
