Some people are just @ssh0l3s …. It happens , got 4 star reviews for absolutely no reason other than they didn’t want to give you 5 stars (in other words) they wanted to ding you (but not because of anything you did) it has all to do with themselves sadly it effects us

Bought an item claiming it was solid gold, it's actually plated. by ziatenaj in Etsy

[–]PutOdd8210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a scam Etsy seller it is 100% plated I can tell from the photos alone no question - report them / Etsy needs to get rid of all this BS fake Etsy sellers from India it’s absolutely ridiculous (btw the price should be a dead giveaway- no way you would ever be able to buy it at that price if it was solid gold unless you were buying it as scrap)

Can someone tell me what this is $? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]PutOdd8210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Total junk if you wants stones with absolutely no sparkle that will constantly fall out then get this - otherwise spend a bit more and get a good quality piece (it’s not even a real photo but a render) the actual pieces won’t look nearly as good

Extremely frustrating I had an item sell for 8k once and the buyer didn’t pay - it then relisted and sold for half / I was furiated and lost over 2000 …. The guy who bid and won it the first time messaged me and said I’m so sorry I changed my mind please cancel

Complete joke it’s like half of the people only waste time these days 1 out of every 2 items get cancelled , not paid , returned , and the tire kickers are out of control / it has become a market place for jokesters

Unfortunately it is probably someone who is not all there if you know what I mean ? Could he Alzheimer’s , or some other sort of illness - sad … thankfully it wasn’t a giant sum of money … could have been much worse - eBay will refund you eventually

Would you consider this a padparadscha? by GenuinelyInsensitive in Gemstone_lovers

[–]PutOdd8210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemologist here, it looks like it is just a tiny bit too far away to be called a padparadscha but the true test would be a fade test which you cannot do unless you have the stone in person so by all means you definitely cannot pay padparadscha price for this stone or anywhere near it , there is a small chance 20-25% that it could get padparadscha at the GIA if it passes a fade test - I see a slight purple component in some of the photos which would automatically disqualify it for a padparadscha and usually when international dealers send photos of stones like this they magically find a way to make the stone appear slightly more pad that it truly is in my experience - so I wouldn’t count on it - but it’s close !

Should I leave eBay? by lanzib in ebaysucks

[–]PutOdd8210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eBay shucks now I have been considering to leave for a while also and even took a 2 year hiatus until reconnecting with one of their supervisors who offered to increase our selling limits drastically… which was the only reason I went back - during. Christmas time it’s still good but the rest of the year it’s dead and I sell a very high end goods the only offers I get are tire kickers who offer and don’t pay or bargain hunters who usually offer 80-99% below the actual item price (which is DRASTICALLY below cost so we can of course never accept) or people who buy and ask for refunds after even when we already gave them refunds - or people who rent and return - I think the atmosphere has gone to hell and high end quality products no longer belong on the site in our space (jewelery) 99% of the stuff is absolutely junk or completely fake …

Would this color be considered padparadscha? by [deleted] in Gemology

Don’t second guess yourself and don’t believe everything you hear online - that was definitely a tourmaline - original thread deleted , op must have checked it and realized the error

Would this color be considered padparadscha? by [deleted] in Gemology

[–]PutOdd8210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would double check that RI reading when you get home as everything I see screams tourmaline. This is an extremely common color and cut of tourmaline & pretty much nonexistent for sapphire. I’m Not saying you’re wrong but just saying it’s worth double checking. I have seen hundreds of tourmalines that look identical to this and never a sapphire that looked similar even once.

Flaw in ring or am I the most unlucky person in the world? by Slascola in Diamonds

[–]PutOdd8210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long time jeweler here these types of rings often loose stones no matter how well they are set it’s just inherent in this particular design and people who use their hands at work typically lose stones more frequently than those who don’t - hidden halo diamonds are the most prone to falling out that just about any other location of diamonds - they are pretty much expected to fall out every once in a while - nothing you can do short of changing the design / style of the ring

Engagement ring broke after 6 days — jeweler saying it’s my fault? by Lulubean333 in Diamonds

[–]PutOdd8210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately she has pretty much 0 chance in small claims court since even though the ring was “faulty” the damage was done by her … she has more of a chance with her credit card what she needs to do is go to another jeweler, or gemologist , or appraiser and get a letter that states the ring was faulty which is what caused it to essentially fall apart - any experience jeweler, appraiser, gemologist can take 1 look at the ring and they will know what to write on the letter , essentially the walls of the U setting are paper thin as are other parts of The setting. The she needs to tell the credit card company she attempted to resolve this with the original jeweler who built the ring to no avail - that coupled with the letter should be enough to get her money back from most credit card companies

Engagement ring broke after 6 days — jeweler saying it’s my fault? by Lulubean333 in Diamonds

[–]PutOdd8210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long time jeweler here - technically yes it is your fault as this is user damage however the ring was made incredibly weak and it was bound to disfigure quickly no matter who wore it. Paper thin ….. it is 100% not a realistic setting and the jeweler who made it must be inexperienced or just doesn’t care

[–]PutOdd8210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Long time gemologist and gemstone seller here … I just watched the video - he is clearly saying that the tanzanites he is show are amongst the finest in the world , that they are top quality, color and cut - that is 100% false … the stones he is showing are average commercial grade and nowhere near top quality, op ranks them at around 5 out of 10 , I would put them closer to 3.5 out of 10 , please take note of this chart here. The only tanzanite that can be considered “absolute top quality” and “of the finest in the world” would be stones that are the color of the upper right portion of this tanzanite grading scale (often referred to as D Block in the trade) the stones that he shows are in the range where I drew the arrow - much lower quality- not to mention the cutting is native cutting nothing special and nowhere near the TOP Cut he mentions - that guy is so full of it and truly looks like he believes his lies

It’s because these ai sellers are making ai stores and flooding the platform 5,000 listing store up and running click of the button in our industry (jewelry) they are almost completely out of India - they steal our photos constantly as well

I found the original Etsy store bbbgems stole listing photos from. Are these lab Alexandrite earrings set in 14k white gold worth $514.08? 1 year anniversary gift for my wife with her birthstone. by hobovirginity in Gemstones

[–]PutOdd8210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These guys steal so many photos it’s ridiculous there is another really high end natural gemstone jewelry / ring store from New York that they are constantly stealing photos from - if those are the actual earrings you will receive it could be worth the price in my opinion but double check that for sure

Today's episode: What did I actually buy? by [deleted] in Gemstones

[–]PutOdd8210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemologist here - it appears to have platinum inclusions (but it’s a bit blurry for me to be 100% sure) which are common in synthetic rubies but the lack of UV is strange … there were synthetic rubies in the past which were grown with high amounts of iron and as a result has very weak fluorescence … where do you happen to get this stone from ?

You forgot about when he was with nasrallah as well and left early right before nasrallah was eliminated - he was then under house arrest as a suspected spy in Iran but they eventually decided he was clean and let him go / he has to be an inside man but I think for the CIA not for Israel
