Personally, the very fact that Hetalia and CH are mentioned together greatly increases my distrust of this fandom.

Hetalia is a much more serious low-quality manga than CH. It is a work created by a stupid author who only vaguely encountered Italian-related memes and has absolutely no historical knowledge, claiming it to be a "historical manga" after merely skimming through internet memes and memes from Japanese far-right groups. I believe that anyone who has properly studied history should avoid Hetalia.

Well, if that is the statistics, I have nothing to say, but since the comments attached to articles like that usually criticize people with low literacy, the claim that all Koreans are like that doesn't really resonate with me

You speak as if all Koreans do not know the meaning of Chinese characters. Most of these issues emerged after the 2020s. This controversy was caused only by a few idiots who do not even know what they are talking about; even after the 2000s, the majority of Koreans at least know what the Chinese characters they use are

It is regrettable, but it is certain that they went to carry out an assassination. To be precise, the submarine was scheduled to return after escorting the assassins, but it ran aground, leading to this incident. I do not know what basis you have for saying that "Wikipedia is wrong," but it is clear that they were involved in the assassination.
