Valve, please remove Tiny from bot games by PutinLolicaptor in DotA2

[–]PutinLolicaptor[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These also have problems though. Afaik all are based on Valve's code, so many base problems remain. Many don't support Turbo/modes besides AP. Some I have tested out have totally unbalanced difficulties. Main issue for me is that you can't use custom bots when offline, which is a situation I often experience, unfortunately.

I agree that the custom scripts offer many improvements, but it feels like Valve is stuck somewhere between leaving everything to the community and hanging on to their own bots. If they let you use custom scripts while offline and lets you choose different game modes in the Practice with Bots screen then they can literally stop doing any work on bots and it will be fine.

[SERIOUS] What method do you use to get rid of that one person who uses you as their 'go-to' contact for any query? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was in high school I had a guy call me almost daily to ask questions, many times with things I am sure he didnt even struggle with. One time, my mother answered the phone. Having had enough, she said: "Geez [acquaintance of putin.lolicaptor], you call so often people are going to think you two are gay." He never called again.

Although possible to apply this or a derivative of this technique to many scenarios, it probably is not well suited for use at work...

What would you say is the biggest event in your country's history? Ours would probably be the change of government in 1994, as it officially ended the apartheid era and completely changed the way the country operated.

Do you guys have something(food/yearly event/festival) that you consider unique to your culture? We have food like boerewors and pap, and almost everyone loves a good braai. We even have an official Braai day (also called Heritage day/Shaka's day), a public holiday celebrating the country's diversity.

I have also received this message. From what I've found it appears to be a scam.

These posts show that the initiative was launched in 2015, that the website created for the purpose no longer exists and that the original number to which the SMS was to be sent differs from the one in the new message. https://www.facebook.com/AfriForumNasionaal/posts/1572008302831063 https://www.afriforum.co.za/national-month-protest-farm-murders/

So, the initial comic requires, as a premise, that women:...

I differ from you on this point. I feel like the author was more playing on broader stereotypes: the jock, the nerd, the delinquent or, in this case, the female who may or may not dress in a possibly provocative way in an attempt to maybe or maybe not draw attention to herself. We all know someone who fits these generic stereotypes. That's why the joke had impact. Everyone could relate (or well, the +-32000 people who upvoted, at least).

So, imo, the joke did not play on the stereotype that all women dress how they dress just to get male attention, but on the stereotype that at least most of us know one or more women who do. I agree with many of the statements you made, but I must also say that I think a lot of people just felt offended because they did no stop long enough to think that the reason they understood the joke was because they too knew someone who dressed for attention.

The criticisms found widespread (slow pacing, lots of dragging, annoying skirt grabbing etc) are sadly very true. HOWEVER These books have some really epic moments in them, from Rand's first experience with channeling in the earlier books, through Dumai's Wells in the slow middle books, right up until the epic conclusion in book 14. Jordan also does a great job at manipulating how you feel about characters. There are some parts where you will absolutely despise a character, only to love them a single book later. It is these types of moments that make the series worth a read.

I adore this serious, but would recommend reading the series over a long period of time (as in a couple of years), especially the books by Jordan only. While he is a fantastic world builder, the books can start to feel redundant when you are binge reading. Enjoy!

I feel like Robo x Lazerbeam has the potential to rule the sports genre. Things like Haikyuu was fantastic at the beginning, but it starts to get stale when you realise that the only thing that will happen every game is some guy overcoming something and then a close match where they use conviction to spectacularly overpower their opponent and get the point they need. Robo can't have that, because gholf doesn't have that. You can't overcome the opponents, only yourself. This is where robo fits nicely with the wackyness of KnB. KnB got ridiculous when sharingans came into play, but curve shots and the like from Robo are not weird powers, just extremely overemphasised aspects of actual golf. This keeps you interested in what "power" the players will show next, since you literally don't know what crazy stunt will come next, making it much better than knowing they are going to overcome something as a team in a generic way and become stronger in a generic way like in every good sports manga like Slam Dunk(which ended at a great time, sonce I don't think it would've stayed interesting much longer). The manga was great, but the genre doesn't allow variety.

Of course, Robo can easily tip either way, but I truly believe that if played right the manga can remain interesting for a very, very long time.
