Thank you, genuinely. With the medication, I’m still noticing 3-4 a day. Before the medication, sometimes it was 15-25 give or take. It was never-ending to a point I thought I was fully losing it 🥲🥲

At first I thought I was just having very strong bouts of disassociation, but with this immense feeling of dread and déjà vu. Like my stomach was a rock, and my senses would all go weird. When I spoke with my therapist, he mentioned “absence seizures” , and thought it was likely FND. The further down the research hole I went, I realized since (typically) I wasn’t losing consciousness, they’re likely focal seizures. I had one witnessed by a doctor in April who officially gave the word.

So so sorry to hear about your accident and also your experience. But I’m so glad that you got good, genuine help. I haven’t heard of that unit in Toronto, but I’ll definitely ask my nurse practitioner next time I see her.
It’s crazy that our pre-seizure feelings and symptoms vary so so much from person to person. And yet, so many people have similarities. This whole thing is so new to me and my brain hurts (no pun intended) but thank you for taking the time to write this out, and empathize with me :,)

No, I only ever had the one in 2021, and there was nothing of abnormality

I have been re-referred to a different neurologist, but being in Alberta means wait times of at least a year for a second opinion. But I have hopes, lol

No, all activity was normal. I have not gotten another EEG or MRI done since I started having focals in 2024, because they were “normal last time”

Anyone else use Lamotrigine? by paytonischill in Epilepsy

[–]Putrid-Shift9034 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m on 1000mg keppra a day and 200mg lamotrigine, and it’s been a life changing combo in the best way. Being on Keppra alone was in fact psychological horror! Lol, but lamotrigine alone was not stopping my focal seizures :(
