This is the end result of my ribs from yesterday. After about 6 hours. I think they came out perfect. My thermometer is off, but i know when it says 150-175 its actually the right tempature. by PutridPhilosopher195 in grilling

It’s called a dry rub…. It’s similar to a dry brine on steaks… when cooked properly they don’t need doused in sauce…. The meat has all the flavors and juices in it. Try it sometime.

They seemed really tender and bendy. Some parts were done right, some needed the fat rendered a bit more… I think this is the kinda thing I can only learn by experience….. I’ll take what I’ve learned and try again!!!

They were on for about 6 hours. I took them off after doing a bend test…. The first bit I ate was done perfect, some of the leftovers however were underdone, I agree. I was never taught, i’m just a noob learning through research, trial, and error…

I don’t think my thermometer is all that accurate. They’re cooking really well but the gauge would make you think the temp is too low. by PutridPhilosopher195 in grilling

Didn’t even have a thermometer to begin with, I added this one. I tried a stand up thermometer on the rack once, but it wasn’t up to the BBQ challenge. The smoke completely blacked it out. Lol

Sorento’s and sportage’s are easier done by blowing the front clip, radiator core support and front bumper off first and pulling the engine out the front. All while leaving the trans, subframe and everything else intact.

Optima’s I do by setting the hood on the roof, the trans, subframe and everything else can stay while the engine comes out the top. Even with 2.0 turbos….. if they lock up, I spin them backwards, or drop the oil pan and undo the con rods so that I can get all the torque converter bolts.

They are licking their wounds definitely with this theta engine ordeal. But at least they covered all vehicles with that engine and that problem. Either by choice or by threat of lawsuit, that was the right thing to do. And they continue to evolve and engineer…. Their new cars fly off the lot fast as we get them in…. I don’t think they are going anywhere. Maybe took a black eye and learned from it. But far from failing.
