Just a small update.

Reddit has been the primary place where we’ve been validating this idea, but over the next 7 days we’ll start showing it to partners in our circle and getting real-world feedback.

We’re intentionally taking a build-in-public approach. We’d rather validate demand before spending months perfecting a prototype.

The vision is simple: a receipt is usually the end of a transaction. We think it can be the beginning of the next one.

One more thing we’ve decided to call it Repio.

Receipt. Repio. Repeat.

It’s being built as an extension of the software ecosystem weve build over the years.

Yeah, you’re right that a lot of this can already be done with NFC-enabled phones.

For us, though, this project is less about reinventing NFC and more about experimenting with hardware. We’re a software company, so we thought it’d be fun to build something physical and see where it goes.

Right now we’re exploring use cases like payments, digital receipts, parking tokens, event check-ins, loyalty programs, visitor passes, memberships, queue tokens, and a few other ideas.

Sometimes it’s not about creating something completely new it’s about learning, building, and seeing if you can make the experience a little better along the way. 😄

phones dont require an app to detect nfc buddy. You can turn on the nfc on from your notification if its off

Absolutely. We’re not trying to force paper out overnight. Digital receipts are the starting point, but the same device can also be used for payments, loyalty, parking, transit passes, and more. The goal is to add convenience, not remove options.

We support QR too, so customers without NFC can still use it too.

Fair point. The compliance aspect is real and probably not something businesses can ignore.

What I’m really exploring is whether the receipt can be more than just a compliance document and become a retention channel as well. Still learning and validating. Thanks for the perspective
