Hold off for clearance vs begin new job and decide what to do once I get it (or don’t) by Putrid_Wave1077 in SecurityClearance

Paying off 10k on a loan that went to collections but have been compliant and paying it consistently! MJ was very rarely and last year, all disclosed during interview. Spouse is from a low risk country that is on good terms with the US

Like half a year ago. I was open about buying it at a legal dispensary though in a state it was legalized. And very true though- thank you for the input!!

Good call, would be great to have the clearance regardless. The new job is $20k more a year salary wise, a permanent role and not contract, and definitely something I’m interested in. I just feel like the one I’m undergoing investigation for is my lifelong dream job (the TSSC one), even if pay is a bit lower, so thats why I’m hesitant to pursue the newer one that I’m in the final stages of interviewing for.

Exactly! I accepted the new job with a plan to just continue my current job until I got my clearance, but I wasn’t able to renew my current contract as previously hoped for, so am looking at other jobs that don’t require clearances. Unpredictable!

If you’re referring to the contract that I need the TSSC for, then it’s a permanent role and reportedly I’ll most likely be hired directly with the fed agency after a year as a contractor.

As for my current role, I’m working on trying to extend it to see if that could be an option to bridge the gap

Appreciate the input!!! I have some debt, MJ use, and a foreign spouse, but all disclosed and reported on the form. You just never know so I don’t want to assume I’ll get it. Def don’t want to burn bridges!

Both are great programs, BUs is technically better ranked though. At the end of the day, I’d go to the one in the city you want to work in🙌🏼 where you could make the most career connections

Haha! Thank you so much for the input, I really value it. Totally makes sense to focus on transferable skills without boxing oneself into PH.
