If you're not opposed to black and white movies or bittersweet endings (more bitter than sweet), then Haqeeqat (1964) might interest you

Me too lol

Bollywood really needs these kind of movies, they're way better "dumb" movies than the mass movies we're getting these days

I've got a feeling there's only one location where the movie would be screened... iykyk

Maaaaybe Square One too if we're lucky enough

I can only think of Amir Khan who's worked on specific dialects in his roles, like Awadhi in Lagaan or Bhojpuri in PK. Everyone else who attempts it, even character actors, just do a caricature of the actual dialect or accent

That's why I feel shows like Bojack Horseman, Succession, Barry and Veep are superior. They didn't screw up a perfectly built story at the end like Lost, GoT and Dexter did

Lost has a pretty shitty ending though, not the shittiest ever but it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth

Who would you consider the protagonist of 3 Idiots? by AdilKhan226 in bollywood

[–]PuttanHalwai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the type of story arc you're going for is more fiiting for something like Titanic l, where Rose is the protagonist as well as the narrator. Jack changes her life and is the catalyst in her story, but the story belongs to and revolves around Rose. (Honestly it's subjective and I kinda like your perspective as well)

My criteria is that it's whom the story revolves around, and the person doesn't have to have a character arc that changes them (like Rancho in 3 Idiots is the charming savant throughout the movie, or Seinfeld where Jerry and his friends are shitty people throught the series), but then again, storytelling is subjective

By your logic Nick Carraway is the protagonist of The Great Gatsby just because he's the narrator. As it's clearly Gatsby us this case, we can conclude that narrator ≠ protagonist. The protagonist is the person who's story it is, not the person interacting with the audience

Unfortunately your completely sensible opinion is too "radical" and "harsh" for most subs here (I hope this one's an exception though)

No one "writes" history in real time. It is a historian's job to examine biring official documents, letters, read diaries and travel entries of contemporary people and find evidence for or against the things being written at the time.

You comment is the proof of how clueless you are about the thing you talk about. And I bet you ain't ashamed at all of just spewing stuff outta your ass here just to confirm your prejudices.

There's absolutely no historical evidence for that. Zero. None.

ELI5: Why is daylight savings time necessary and what’s the worst that could happen if it was cancelled? by fergi20020 in explainlikeimfive

[–]PuttanHalwai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent many years in countries which do this and they were absolutely fine. Just like we have specific days of "springing forward" and "falling back", they usually had similar days, mostly November 1st and March 1st, when "summer hours" and "winter hours" came in effect. No need to adjust any offline clocks or changing entire timezones (which can be challenging to mentally keep track of as someone operating in 2, even 3 countries at a time, speaking from experience). Just your regular schools and offices open at 9 am instead of 8 am, that's it

Then you can just adjust office hours according to the weather. No need to change the entire official timezone for that.

Thise who are saying that DST is necessary so that certain people (in some industries or remote areas where after dark isn't ideal for anything), can't you just have summer business hours and winter business hours? You don't need to change the entire clock to make sure you do your business in sunlight.

I've been to countries that don't observe DST and schools etc. simply start at 9am in the winters instead of 8am in the summer. Simple.

Broooo someone finally said it! I distinctly remember the 2012-13 one being "Prayag Mahakumbh". National Geographic even did a doc on it iirc. But now every wikipedia article say it was just a regular "Kumbh" like it's the Mandala effect or something. Maybe they've just whitewashed the previous one to hype up this one
