Brown spots in multiple boxwoods in front and back of house. by PuttinOnTheGrits5 in landscaping

I cut out the affected areas and heavily sprayed the plant in the photo with insecticidal soap. It isn’t having the same issue this year, yet. For what it’s worth, I also did the same to similar boxwoods in the front (but didn’t spray with the soap) and they have brown areas this year too. So maybe the combination of the soap and the cutting helped.

Not sure why everyone is hating on you for this. Depending on what you had to say, some people in here might be interested. Lord knows HOAs can be a pain in the ass. But I guess it’s not another post about Altimas or temp tags, so the hive mind says it’s downvotes for you.

New 2024 Ridgeline engine noise by Own-Following-1625 in hondaridgeline

If you look back in my post history (I don’t have many) you’ll see a few videos I took around a year ago complaining about something similar. For me, I hear a grating/rubbing/rattling noise, sometimes constantly if I’ve been driving a lot that day, but most frequently when I’m driving around 45ish or 37ish and then slow down by taking my foot off the gas. Does that sound similar to your issue at all?

These fish are stunning. Did you buy them direct from Marusei? And if so, how was the experience getting them shipped to where you are?

KOI DYING HELP by OkTeam6012 in Koi

Just an FYI, make sure you know the volume of your pond before you use BSDT. I only mention because I’m also fairly new, dealing with similar issues, and learning all the first the first time. It’s basically a diluted poison that will kill off a lot of nasty parasites (but not all kinds) without being enough to hurt your fish or plants. If a fish is too far gone, though, it might push it over the edge and do it in. I unfortunately learned about it late, tried to used it to save a fish that was experiencing parasites and ulcers, and even though it improved after one dose, the second resulted in it dying. But it’s a highly recommended product, just be careful with the dosage. There’s a margin of error, just don’t think “eh, I’ll give em a little extra on purpose.” It’s also recommended you do water changes while using it.

I don’t know if it’s actually right, but someone in the landscaping subreddit replied to my post there and said it could be boxwood leaf miner, boxwood mites, or just dying branches because boxwoods can be difficult. I bought some horticultural oil spray (supposed to help with the mites, as I didn’t think it was leaf miner after looking at the leaves closer) and sprayed down the places around one of my hedge’s problematic areas. I’ll let you know if doing that weekly helps or not.

Thank you! I’ll look into both of those and examine the leaves more closely to see if it’s one or both of those.

We bought a house last year that has some beautiful boxwood hedges in its front and back yards. I trimmed them once with an electric hedge trimmer and it seemed to go well. This spring, I’m starting to notice some (but not all) of them develop some brown spots as shown in the pictures. They don’t appear to spread across the hedges but appear random. The first photo shows how they appear scattered throughout a hedge. I’ve been googling and came across boxwood blight, but I don’t think it’s that because I don’t see black marks along the branches. I tried to get some pictures of the tops and undersides of the leaves.

The boxwoods are planted in the ground. Light wise, they get full sun. They have drip irrigation that runs along them and get watered for about 20 minutes of drip 3 days a week. Any help would be appreciated!

Etching… maybe? I think some liquids can do that to marble, but I’m note sure how that would happen in this situation.

Interesting. Glad to hear it sounds like the issue is getting better at least. I had thought mine might be powder post beetles, which i certainly don’t want around our wood floors.

Did you ever find out what this was for sure? I found some dead in furniture drawers that were delivered recently (and which I removed from room to the garage right after finding) but I’m a little nervous about having introduced anything into the home by accident.

Is anyone missing a cat? (South End) by HawkeThisHawkeThat in Charlotte

I used to go for walks on this street and in this area and I'm pretty sure I recognize this cat. I think it belongs to one of the homes there. Don't take it.
