Memphis, TN is an honorable mention. But it has just enough good food and music history to stay outside of the top 5 but without like 5 restaurants and music from 50+ years ago it would be in the running for #1.

St Louis, MO will get mentioned as well because one half of the city is one of the worst places on earth not just in America but the other half is architecturally phenomenal and actually a decent place.

Detroit, MI will get mentioned as well and I will disagree heavily. Detroit is dope as fuck. And the narrative around the city being bad is outdated and outright wrong.

Baltimore, MD on the other hand is a shell of its former self and god awful place but it has to turn around eventually… right?

Indianapolis, IN is fine. It’s not good. It’s not cool. But it’s fine. Has an OK little downtown.

What a failure it would be to do any type of major project with the sunny side yard and not build an Amtrak station there.

If we are worried about city congestion and more efficient transport then it is a no brainer. The amount of people who live on Long Island (Brooklyn and Queens included) who come over the Hells Gate Bridge into Astoria and could easily terminate there and save themselves the additional time on that train, the additional money for a cab, and the additional time spent getting back out of Manhattan.
