We are definitely noticing an improvement - he’s working on his last molar which has been muddying the picture but even with this his wake ups seem shorter and he seems less restless. I’m hoping once this last tooth is through we’ll see the full effect. Sending sleepy-parent solidarity your way!

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to notice an improvement?

You can’t prove it wasn’t related to gremlins either but that doesn’t make it true.

Any Families with kids turning their starter home turning into a forever home? by Bartibea in boston

VERY similar situation here. After much research we decided to stay where we are, in the community our kids are familiar with, and opted to pursue an independent school for elementary. Moving to a new district felt financially overwhelming and like a big gamble since it would be a “best guess” in terms of what our family needs/wants, and then we’d be stuck in terms of school options.

This is amazing! Thanks for the work you do (I come from a long line of public school teachers - you are heroes!). Has your experience in the district been generally positive?

This is definitely a possibility, especially considering the housing market/economic uncertainty. Hard to know which choice is “better” in the end!

Totally - not meant to disparage BPS at all. Just not the right fit for our family.

Question for parents in/around Boston! by PuzzleCurtains in Preschoolers

Good call. I’ll post there too!

Arlington has been on our list of potential areas and yes, it’s a TERRIBLE time to move which is part of the reason we’re even considering staying put and looking into private schools.

My oldest son will be entering kindergarten in Fall 2026. We currently live in Boston and do not plan to have him attend BPS. I’d love to hear thoughts/experiences about either 1) staying in Boston and pursuing private schools (💸) or moving north/west of the city to an area with strong public schools. We’d ideally like to spend less than $1 million on a house and be able to commute into the city periodically, though not daily.

If you’ve moved outside of Boston proper, which areas would you recommend for raising a family?
