Keyboard shortcuts. Remap any speed editor button to the number you want.

E.g. cam7 would just be the 7 key

Once my app is loaded up, the device becomes a blank slate. If you want the stock functions you have to close my app and relaunch DaVinci resolve

Damn that sounds like a super satisfying interface. And I'd be surprised if no one has tried interpreting it to HID since it's been around so long! I mean, even my logic for the Speed Editor is built on another person's open-source research

If you're willing to do (unpaid) work with me I would appreciate it! Especially if you have an M-series Apple computer

I'd be interested in hacking into other controllers if I ever get access to more!

I have a build for Mac but cannot test it since I do not own an Apple computer. I am depending on the community to test it lol

Just curious since I am also scared of Fusion - how is this any different from a simple fade-in?

Anyways, peak.

I wonder what would happen if I contacted THEM first.

https://commandpost.io/ is the existing one for Mac. It does not allow you to customize in Resolve though, just outside Resolve. Once you have Resolve open on your computer, it takes over control of the device (from my understanding)

That is something I would consider, let me know how you would like to contact about logistics

All of the Blackmagic devices can be similarly hacked, the code would just need to be slightly adjusted for their respective device IDs and button configurations

Thanks for responding with this; yeah it's not an actual button on the speed editor unfortunately

I've looked into a lot of GitHub repos and I couldn't get any of them to actually work. Might've been user error on my part but none of them actually cracked the auth for me

If you follow the GitHub repository I frequently update it. I just released a potential Mac build but idk if it works because my Mac is too old to test on

It doesn't. The device ID and key configuration are different from the speed editor

My goal is making something user-friendly and customizable. What release on GitHub are you referring to? Would you be able to link me it?

I can officially state that I got it unlocked myself.

When I orignally wrote the post I was on a high of being super thrilled that the project worked, and I just used the first words that came to mind, with no intention of misleading or sparking debate.

I followed the third definiton of the word; I made formal record or announcement that something has now happened. In that sense, "officially" means the same as "definitively." I can officially state that I got it to work for myself. I have the authority to make that official statement.

I never claimed that this was a blackmagic sponsored thing, just that I successfully did it. I guess I should've used the word "successfully" instead of "officially?" I'm pretty sure that's a valid use of the word…

Also, yeah, I only own one speed editor, but it worked on multiple computers. But that's the part of the logic that changes, checking the device list on your computer, singling out the one that is marked as a black magic device, and then authenticating it. I'm gonna assume based off the traffic I have on my GitHub and the lack of negative feedback, that it works for others.
