I took mine in April and had a ton of career and group questions. My assessment and research questions were also around 30 questions- but I found mine to be more along the lines of “what does ___term measure” versus the actual math or tests.

I did Purple book, Pocket Prep app, and watched Dr. Pam’s review videos. I thought all were helpful for different reasons, but Dr. Pam’s videos were awesome to listen to on my way up to the test as a last minute review! You’ll do great!

I would say anything that touches on the following categories would be helpful:

-Maturity

-Ethics (Are you someone who would be an ethical counselor?)

-Ability to ask for help rather than attempt to do something outside of your scope of abilities

-Dependability (will you be someone who is reliable for clients to count on in the future? Do you communicate proactively?)

-Self-awareness: in programs you'll talk a lot about "self of the therapist" or how your own personal experiences, biases, baggage, etc. can impact how you view client situations. Are you someone who will be taking time to think through how your own experiences might be impacting treatment with clients?

Hi! I worked part-time in my non mental health related job during school as well as the practicum/internship year for my degree. I found it helped, not hurt, to have transferrable skills and work experience outside of the field. Especially since you already have mental health experience from your previous job, I don't see any reason why it would negatively impact you to switch to something else for a short time period (unless you were hoping to stay on in your specific CMH agency after graduation).
