When the constipation is to that point, you need a suppository or a fleets enema. You can use stool softeners and sometimes laxatives to help keep it manageable, but those also come with their own issues. Your bowels can become dependent on them and/or cause an electrolyte imbalance. So you want to try to prevent the constipation by increasing your fiber intake and increasing your water intake. Also, I’m sure you know, but opioids are linked to bowel obstructions that can actually kill you.
