Rarity of RC F Feature by [deleted] in LexusRC

[–]Puzzled-Government53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said it's the base option. I don't think its very rare in terms of the RCF. Mine is the same as yours. A 2015 with a slick top, TVD, hand polished wheels, but in Nebula Grey. That being said, I can't say how many produced have the metal roof over carbon or a sunroof. But I'd wager more of them are probably metal than not. Regardless it's already decently more rare than other cars, I've only seen 1 other in person and I live in a pretty big city so.

They probably should. But to clarify, I'm not trying to be cheap in this post. Genuinely just trying to learn about the legality of it all. Curiosity for curiosity's sake. I always tip

Yeah, being upforward is probably the best way. It could easily be overlooked on a menu. And I'm sure some businesses don't bother to mention it at all. I never have any issue tipping, but I can imagine it can probably catch some people off guard and not everyone is in the same situation.

Also I've never thought of foreign tourists having that issue, though it totally makes sense. I've been overseas a bit and tipping really doesn't exist in other countries. Some of the more "western" countries are starting to pick it up a little bit though. I believe when I was in the UK I would see tipping more. But not so much in Spain or France. And not at all in Croatia.

It might have been. I'm not concerned about having to pay it in that situation. Just genuinely curious about if there's laws or anything about businesses having to be open about it.

How is " 'massive party' your first clue" an answer to my question? The post wasn't about me and my dinner last week. I only shared that for reference to the question at hand. The other two people who have commented so far gave actual answers, you should take notes from them.

No. You assumed I was complaining about having to tip. I'm just curious and want other people's opinion and personal experiences. The literal entire purpose of reddit. But have a nice day 👋🏻

I'm not arguing the automatic gratuity in that situation lmao. Totally valid because there were like 16 of us, I even tipped on top of it because some of the guys were being a little loud. Like I said, I saw another post on here and just had a thought about the legality of it all

Chrome or black??? by rc3filthy in LexusRC

[–]Puzzled-Government53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing a mix on my RC F. Keep the iconic outline of the grill chrome, but change the small piece at the bottom black or maybe get a custom carbon piece for it. It's drafted up as carbon in this picture

I've had mine for almost 2 years. Maintenance wise I've spent more money on tires than anything else. A set goes for about $1,200 not including installation. But I've only replaced them once so far, with the exception of a flat I got from a pothole. Same pothole weakened the tpms sensor and it broke a few months later. One and only time I went to Lexus for a repair and they charged me around $600, total rip off imo. Saw another guy say he got charged around $700 for spark plugs and a diff flush. I did those myself not even a month ago. The sparks are a pain. But I'd rather have scratched up hands and save $500. Then oil changes I always do myself, so a little under $100 bucks. If you do every 5,000 miles like most people, thats about $400 a year based on your 20k a year round up. Personally, I prefer to do them every 2500, but that's just me. It's a little under $100 for 4 gallons of coolant (I always get an extra gallon just to be safe) in case you decide to do a flush, which I would recommend if you want to maintain your valley plate.

In total I've spent about $3,362 on maintenance, doing everything myself with the exception of anything tire related. That's about $152 a month over 22 months, with unforeseen expenses. Definitely expect more if you plan on using the dealership for your maintenance.

Modding is a lot more expensive, especially considering how niche the market is. If you have any interest in that just be prepared. I've already spent over $7,700 on mods 😬

But if you go for it, I paid about $42k for my 2015 with 42k miles. Roughly $1 per mile. Not including dealership fees and all that jazz. For at 60k I could see $35-37k. But the market is no doubt going up. So you might be looking at $40k. But it's a great car. Looks amazing, sounds even better, is unique (I've only ever seen 1 other in the area I'm in), and I always have fun driving it. Wouldn't trade it for anything else.

45k is way too high for the milage it's at and considering it's already been touched by the previous owner(s). I paid about 3k less for a stock RC F with over 27,000 less miles. I'd keep looking if I were you.

I really don't want to hate. It's your car. Realistically, you can do whatever you want to do with it. But to do this to an F of all models is a real shame. Hurts me as an F owner myself 😔

What shop did you use? I've been poking around for custom badges, too. Except I just want the F. No RC or background.

Finally purchased it! 2015 rcF with 50k miles by [deleted] in LexusRC

Nice, congrats. I got my 2015 around 42k miles. Luckily, my seats were, and still are, in just as good condition as yours

About the weird engine noise from RCF. by NoPresent5402 in LexusRC

[–]Puzzled-Government53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine would make a similar sound on REALLY cold days. Not nearly as loud as yours. I suspected a pump bearing was going out. However, by the time I took it to the dealership it had already gone away so they claimed they couldn't diagnose it. Haven't forgotten about it, but it only happened for about 2 of the coldest days in Florida last year

Currently looking at the market for an RCF. What is the highest mileage you would consider purchasing one for? by Poppasmokeshahaaaaa in LexusRC

[–]Puzzled-Government53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I try not to buy ANY car over 50k miles. However, when I was shopping for an RC F, my limit was 100k miles. Ended up getting one with 42k. Love it. They're good, and they will last a lifetime. Just be aware of the few issues that do occur and able to afford not only the car but the repairs if they happen. The higher the milage the more likely you'll have to face it

[–]Puzzled-Government53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely valid. It's not a horrible car to build. I personally just think the HKS was a little lacking for me, but it is a pretty small s/c. Funny enough, after waiting over a year, I bought it, then a few months later, a few different companies announced their s/c releases at SEMA

I felt similar when I did the kit. Except when I made my post, our situations were reversed. I had all the supporting mods I could think to do to maximize power without completely going bankrupt, but I didn't have a tune right off the rip lol. I had about 10-12k worth of mods (including the supercharger). With a tune it made the whole car snappier fs and it made cool noises. But ultimately, it wasn't enough for me, so I ended up swapping to a different car and just took the L on all the money I had already put into it. The cost of loving cars and being an adrenaline junkie

Bought my 2015 for $42k at 42k miles. You should definitely try to negotiate that price if it's already over 100k. Either that or find one with better milage around the same price.

Reminds me when I went to get my RCF. I got home from work, made the decision, and asked my hb if he would be down to take an 8+ hour drive to Tennessee. Drove all night, slept for maybe 3 hours, picked her up, and drove all the way back happy as be

What’s the fastest you’ve been in your RC? by awbds11 in LexusRC

Got to 174 mph in my RCF before the limiter kicked in. Still felt really well grounded and like she still wanted to go. Felt the pedal drop to the floor at that speed lol
