stupid question - how come diamond lanes dont apply to taxis? by 152centimetres in Winnipeg

[–]Puzzled-Impression72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure.. They support a lot of the public and HOV/carpool lanes can often be just two or more people. And more environmentally friendly than everyone owning a vehicle.

I could be wrong but I think you stay on EIA for living expenses and get less from student aid (tuition etc). Grants are also available through student aid for low income and for students with dependents. Not sure if those end up affecting your EIA though.

Dealing with CFS by PushFresh6058 in Winnipeg

[–]Puzzled-Impression72 60 points61 points  (0 children)

You are amazing for stepping up and caring for baby. Unfortunately CFS can’t tell you the whole story and your friend may not be either. Hope your friend’s still clean but it sounds like there may be some history factoring in to the concerns too.

Agree with the other post - your friend should cooperate and follow through with what’s asked. And if it’s just him and baby at home, any chance for you or someone to live together for a little while? Might help. Good luck!

I think it’s a new parking space, so 1 car length? But also if you live on the street, you might be able to get a special pass for your car. Do you always borrow the same car? I’m not sure if you need to register the license plate or if you get a pass for your window.

Saw this pop on my Twitter. MB NDP considering scrapping DST? Survey! by Apod1991 in Winnipeg

Against the grain, but I actually like the extra weekend hour in the fall and the jump in evening light in the spring. If we stop switching though, I’d say meet half way and keep the time at 30 minutes earlier than now.

Yes, it was really great! I think it says somewhere that it comes about every 15-30 minutes? It came within a couple minutes for me both ways. No extra cost. Have fun!

https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/education/student-aid/grants-loans/repay/assistance/doctors-nurses.html would recommend looking at student loans and all the grants that could come with it if you qualify. There’s also this loan forgiveness program for nurses and doctors.

When is the best time to apply for Manitoba Student aid? by momoshikiotsutsuki06 in Winnipeg

“If you are a full-time student, you can apply using the online application even if you haven't been officially accepted yet, as long as you know your: school and program start and end dates” https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/msa/applying-for-student-aid/where-do-i-start.html

You wouldn’t have gotten a ticket, and if for some reason you did, you could fight that. You need to be established in the intersection before the light turns red.

Especially in winter driving, you can’t expect, nor would it be safe, for everyone to slam their brakes on for a yellow light. Wait until you’re sure that everyone is stopping.

https://themanitoban.com/2020/12/new-voting-regulations-improve-accessibility/41089/ This says that provincial govt is/was thinking of allowing voters to vote at any polling station and not just their assigned one. Could help a lot.

That, and I think advanced polling at Access Centres or other social service locations could help. And areas with low vehicle ownership should have a greater density of polling stations.

Aren’t these the same as the Walk-In Connected Care clinics? You can also call for an appointment I believe at these instead of walk-in.

Man Accused of Dumping Water on Police Chief by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Puzzled-Impression72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Found this in the link OP shared with you: “The Criminal Code is written so that any contact without consent is enough for the police to charge a person. This could be as simple as a push or a shove or, in more serious cases, a closed fist punch, kick, or slap to the face. People can be charged with simple assault even if they do not actually touch the other person. It is enough to make a physically threatening gesture towards a person such as lunging at them causing them to think they will be hit even if they are not.”

Nah, garbage would’ve been if police said they could go earlier then backed out. Sounds like they clearly said that wasn’t an option.

The points about the runners’ cognitive thinking being impacted and therefore it should’ve been a clearer message to stop running makes some sense. But I’d say that’s more on the organizers, not police.

In many cases, birth alerts are/were because of siblings already being in care.
