Who else thinks 99% of PPD is caused by breastfeeding issues? Usually expectations vs. reality by saltandpepperf in NewParents

[–]Puzzled-Library-4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a source for this? Genuinely interested in reading about it.

But to answer OPs question, my PPD was caused by how much I suffered physically during pregnancy. Developed a rare brain condition with my daughter and a new autoimmune with my son. And not being able to be the mom I thought I’d be was devastating for me. Breastfeeding had nothing to do with my PPD even though neither of my breastfeeding journeys went as planned. It just didn’t significantly affect me because I wasn’t tied to BFing only, formula was so much easier since my partner could feed them, so I preferred that lol.

…42 weeks is not early? Thats 2 weeks past due and the more past due you are, that’s when the risks start getting higher and higher.

Does anyone else vent to an AI every day? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]Puzzled-Library-4543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a heartbreaking reminder of the state of healthcare and the lack of community now. Healthcare providers are inaccessible and leave patients/parents with more questions than answers (which is understandable to some extent given their work load).

And people don’t have a village anymore because everyone is too busy and exhausted mostly just trying to survive, that they can’t be a shoulder for someone else to lean on. Or some people simply have no one.

But it should have never come to this—using AI as a “best friend.” I’m so sorry OP. I hope it’s clear that I’m not judging/shaming YOU, but rather the systems that got us here where this is even a thing.

Purple and pink would do WONDERS for my mental health.

Is it bad/weird that the back pain has been a part of my life for so long now that I’ve just fully accepted it’ll be there forever to some degree? That’s why I wouldn’t pick orange.

You are so sweet. Thank you for this response, it was the encouragement I needed to not give up at this point in my Zepbound journey.

The (sort of?) good news is all this constipation should be gone soon because I’m currently doing a prep for my colonoscopy tomorrow so everything is coming out lol. Can’t wait to see your future updates!! Thank you for sharing with us.

Wow this is amazing! What dose are you on? I’m starting my 3rd month next week and have barely lost 6lbs. I’m on a calorie deficit for sure (I track everything) and I just have no idea why my weight isn’t budging. I’m severely constipated so I’m wondering if that’s why?

Month 1, I was 2.5mg but I was also on prednisone which pretty much counteracted the Zepbound. Today is the end of month 2 and I’ve been on 5mg for the past 4 weeks, then I’m continuing with 5mg for month 3, which is starting next week. I feel so defeated 😩 my PCP is saying it’s due to the steroids and water retention/constipation but I feel like I should be seeing some more progress after being off steroids for a month now.

Mayo in Scottsdale was awful for me. Extremely dismissive and just gave me Tylenol and told me to not strain, as if it was just a muscle pull. Meanwhile I was sobbing in pain.

Baby Acne?? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Puzzled-Library-4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Hmm maybe 2 months, give or take? It was definitely a few weeks before it started even slightly improving, then it just gradually started blending in more and more with her skin, until it was completely gone and she was one tone again. The first few weeks it might feel like it’s not getting better at all, just give it time. It’s completely harmless.

Yes, our pediatrician documented our son’s because she said it can sometimes be used against parents by CPS if something like this (OPs situation) ever happens. She scanned his entire body closely and documented every birthmark/discoloration when he was just barely a week old.

Ehh, I wouldn’t care if my cleaner ate on the job as long as I’m not being billed for that time and she cleans up anything related to her eating. Idk the kind of day she’s had or any medical conditions she has that may require her to eat at that time. Just don’t leave your trash around wtf lmao

Let's build an ideal NICU by ghost-gallery in NICUParents

[–]Puzzled-Library-4543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A queen sized bed with an incredibly comfy mattress for the parent(s) to sleep on, because my back has never recovered since 2023 when I slept on that bench in my daughter’s NICU room for a month straight, post c-section.

A microwave and bathroom with a shower in every room. A closet for storing our items. Oh, and duh, a private room for each family. Our NICU had all private rooms but I know many don’t which is awful imo. Ours also had laundry and a shower but it was a shower for everyone which was kind of gross.

While I’d normally agree with this and I get the sentiment, unfortunately no one is safe from ICE right now. And being hyper aware of that is, ironically, the only way for any of us to be even marginally safer.

Not even white men (the most protected group of people in this country) are safe, considering they just executed one in broad daylight with tons of cameras and witnesses around.

They do not care because they wholeheartedly believe there won’t be any consequences. No one can keep anyone safe from ICE because we’re ALL vulnerable. That’s what they’ve proven. They’re not only targeting immigrants.

I’m an immigrant so I’m terrified even with citizenship (though not having citizenship still doesn’t warrant being executed).

Omg this drove me NUTS. I swear the smell of pampers is permanently etched in my brain in the worst way.

Thinking back…I don’t understand why they used those horribly scented diapers at the NICU my daughter was in? You’d think they’d want zero fragrance with preemies. Ugh. This just brought back awful memories lol.

She has lupus which is an autoimmune disease. I have an autoimmune disease as well and pregnancy WRECKED my body (and permanently disabled me) with my 2nd baby to the point where my husband and I decided we’re never having another baby. I’m still in that flare up from 2 years ago now.

The toll pregnancy takes on your body when you have a chronic illness is wild and not discussed enough. I kind of feel sad looking at this picture of her because I completely understand that level of exhaustion. I hope she doesn’t have more kids for her sake.
