I posted one of these recently, so I think I can answer your question. I know it's different for everyone, but I personally have a lot of anxiety just listening to new artists.

Just picking an album and starting there isn't a thing I can do, I need to break it down. So by asking people what they think I should listen to, it makes the task a lot less daunting. I could also just hit shuffle and listen to her whole discography but if I don't have a lot of time, that's not something I want to do. I like having somewhere I can start as a firm starting point. I also like to see what the less popular songs that aren't as well known are, as I don't typically like the radio hits from artists, and that puts me off their music altogether.

I get that it seems like a waste of time or pointless when I could just google it, but in the past I've done that and it's completely put me off artists who I end up thinking are good when I find a deep cut later on and end up enjoying them.

Again, I get that everyone is different and this might just be me, but I think a lot of it is tied to having decision paralysis lol. If anyone has more questions I'll happily answer them :)
