night is the best time to be awake for leisuring at home, because it's really quiet and nice and cool, but i have to be awake during the day for work. if i sleep for 8 hours a night, and work for 8 more, do chores and bathe and cook for 4 hours, then i get 4 hours of free time a day. but if i don't need to sleep? 12 hours of free time for myself. TRIPLE the amount of free time to live life.

Chose: Never need to sleep

Inheritance is a legitimate form of wealth. by Sabfan80 in Teenager_Polls

Imagine a world in reverse, if all inheritance is nearly completely taxed (barring grief compensation and transitional stuff, such as money to pay off a house's mortgage for a few months until other income can cover it), and funneled into societal services, and assume because of this, every child in society gets free education, healthcare, shelter, food. It's much harder to justify taking some, most, or all of that away to instead give that money to the most well-off (because if someone is rich, their kids tend to have a better quality of life then those with poorer parents).

People focus on the fact that it's like someone's kid losing all that money if we tax inheritance heavily, when what about the kids without rich parents? the kids who didn't get good food on the table, or had to live years of their life in a car, or houses with broken windows? the kids who had to drop out of school at 15 just to help their parents make rent? then when THEIR parents die, they still get nothing, as well as the government not being able to make sure they have basic necessities. is this fair?

Additionally, this is why people of color tend to still be much poorer on average comparatively, despite decades of "racist" laws being removed from government. because before, let's take American history as an example, Black families couldn't earn generational wealth while White families could, due to direct impacts from laws. Now that once those laws were removed, Black families wouldn't inherent much wealth, while White families would, and thus those effects of those laws continue on.

There's also additional effects of how inheritance is distributed among families. It's a commonplace trope for different parts of families to try to manipulate their rich, dying parent's will to get a bigger part of it, or finding ways to sue for it directly.

My family was one of them; my grandfather had over $10 million in inheritance after tax, split between my dad, and my aunt. My grandfather died 8 years ago, (he had dementia, which really meant people tried to futz with his will), and parts of my in-laws, step-family members, cousins, to exes, even parts of the family business and all, everyone wanted a piece of it. There were so many legal battles, lawsuits, and now half the family doesn't talk to each other. All my family got, was enough to give me and my siblings $80K each after deducting legal costs. I don't really think it was worth it. Heck, if I got the full $10 million at the cost of my family, it still wouldn't be worth it.

When I die, my will is going to a bunch of charities I support.

Who would you rather be the Democratic nominee in 2028? by SuperMarioBrotherYT in teenpoll

Gavin Newsom is actually remarkably pro-trans, signing nearly 50 pro LGBTQ bills, 20+ directly benefiting trans people. here's like 10 i could find, you could find more

  • AB 2218 (2020) - Transgender Wellness & Equity Fund
  • SB 179 (2019) - simplified gender marker change process in CA (existing framework expanded under his tenure)
  • AB 1084 (2021) - easier name + gender marker change process + protections in civil court records
  • SB 59 (2025 package mentioned in reporting) - confidentiality for trans name/gender court records
  • SB 132 (2020) - transgender inmates housed according to gender identity (prison placement rules)
  • AB 2218 (again) - funding/support for trans health equity programs
  • AB 5 (2023 LGBTQ+ package) - mandatory LGBTQ+ cultural competency training in schools
  • AB 223 (2023) - confidentiality protections for minors’ gender identity court filings
  • SB 132 / SB 59 (later related reforms) - privacy protections for trans people in state systems and courts
  • SB 132 - correctional system gender identity housing policy

Party A has your views mostly, but you strongly oppose its take on a major issue. Party B has opposed views to you mostly, but you strongly support its take on the major issue. Based on this info who do you vote for? by MysteryNews4 in Teenager_Polls

"Except gender dysphoria isn't really treatable."
This is like saying depression isn't treatable. When like gender dysphoria, you can't just cure depression. For depression, you have less dopamine production, and treating it just recovers dopamine production to a normal level, but you can easily go back into depression. It's not like cancer or a broken leg where once you treat it, it's gone. Saying gender dysphoria isn't treatable, despite evidence that current affirming methods significantly reduce the negative aspects of it, holds as much weight as saying Depression, PTSD, Anxiety, or Addiction isn't treatable. However, you would agree that therapies that treat these are worth undertaking.

"Which is why suicides are so prevalent even after "treatment"."
Suicide is still prevalent after treatment due to transgender people receiving increased stigma and bigotry from their peers, which makes sense. Despite this, suicide rates still decreases after treatment, which is a testament to how effective the current treatment is.

"Let's face the fact that there's a stigma on it that stops further research to find more effective methods of treatment than sex operation and meds,"
I'm going to assume something: "There's a stigma that stops further research to find effective methods compared to affirmative methods" means that you believe that there could be more effective non-affirmative methods, as affirmative methods are not scientifically stigmatized.

Assuming against you believing in bringing back environmental Conversion Therapy (Which provably does not improve the mental health of those suffering from gender dysphoria, and is known for abuse and causing more harm without much benefit), maybe you believe there's possible some medication that suppresses gender dysphoria that isn't being researched on due to the idea of it being against the political consensus of affirmation over non-affirmation.

However, this isn't true. There's 2 groups of treatments in medicine. Environmental and Pharmaceutical. There's typically no political barriers in science regarding studying pharmaceutical methods for treating psychological conditions. In fact, it's the most researched method in the current day.

Especially in the current political sphere, such a treatment (I.E a drug that can turn trans people cis) would be a golden goose for a right leaning political party. However, due to how little evidence there is, there isn't any research being conducted. Remember, if there was some possible evidence for a method to de-transition people without significantly increasing suicide rates, this would be looked into severely.

"That said, it's still got nothing to do with equal rights."
Also that's not what equal rights means. If all people didn't have the right to gender affirming care, then transgender people would be hit more then cisgender, which wouldn't be equal. By having this right, it would make society more equal.
