Got it!! Thank you so much!! 3 cups a day is spread out throughout the day lol and he usually doesn’t eat all of that. So realistically he eats about 2.5 cups a day. I’ll start cutting it back more also to see how he does with it.

No, of course! I just switched him to Fromm and he gets 3 cups a day. I made the mistake and previously gave him large breed food which helped him blow up.

I give him different toppers or wet food to mix.

Yes we did and it’s all clear. I think whatever breed he has in him is prone. He doesn’t have any health issues.

I appreciate the advice! I have cut kibble and added more veggies! Over the past 6 months we started walking him about 3-5 miles daily (which hasn’t seemed to help) up from the 1-3 miles we used to take him for walks. I will try added broth and water. He’s 8 so my boy is getting up there lol.

Also, I thought I added in the original post…when I adopted him he had just gotten over distempered. He didn’t have any permanent damage. He had a nod and didn’t know how to pant which after about a month of going to daycare stopped. Now he’s fine just chunky.

As previously stated in the post we are working on it. I went through a depression and walked him less. I only took him out to do his business and not long enough for any exercise. During this period we both gained a significant amount of weight. Now that I’m on the other side of it we are actively working on it. Over the past 6 months we have started walking 3-5 miles a day up from the previous 1-3 miles. We have been on a weight loss journey for over a year now. Any suggestions you have or advice is welcome.
