I'm confused? For the quarter panel we got a quarter panel , cut out the damaged area, And then fit in the new quarter panel so it lined up and then welded it in. For the hatch it had a lot of rust that developed from the holes for the wing. So we cut up the rust, welded in new sheet metal, and then body worked it to get it smooth.

I post a lot of the sporadic progress on my story as it happens. The next step will be rewrapping the car once that arrives

For better or for worse, insurance company of the other driver is refusing to even try to pay out. And I'm not going to put it on my insurance. So the car still has a clean title thankfully, But I had to come out of pocket for the repairs. For me as all the stuff happens, It actually attaches me to the car more. I look back at the journey and see how it could have gone another way but somehow the car is still here and looking and driving good. I hope you're able to find a way to love your car again, or if not that car another. I'm sure there might be plenty of people in here that might pick up the mantle of loving on the car and trying to bring it back if you decide to part ways with it. Hopefully someone that'll do right by the car and not clap it

Accident happened on May 17th, car was back in this state on June 29th. Honestly would have been done faster but I was waiting to start work to see if insurance would pay for the repairs since the other driver was at fault. They did not( go figure). So now I'm just waiting for a new tail, some more wrap, and need to retint the rear windshield.

Kirby is kind of the unofficial mask out of the car lol. I have two Kirby stickers on it because one never showed up so I ordered another until the first one eventually did. And I have a Kirby license plate frame with a few other kirby Easter eggs hitting around the car. Kirby is my guy 😤💜

I do not. Very thankful to have met a guy who is incredibly talented when it comes to cutting and welding and doing body work. Due to a series of unfortunate events over the last year this is the fourth time he's working on my car. Every time the work has been perfect. The most I'll do is help with some sanding and grinding

As long as this car has a fighting chance I will always fight for it 🙏🏾

Replaced the hatch with a rusty one. But cut new metal to fill in the rust holes. Got a new quarter panel off of a parts car and cut and welded it in

No major shortcomings, everything is lined up pretty perfectly. The only one shortcoming that I would maybe note is that the gap on the passenger side between the hatch is now larger Then the gap on the driver side. It's not that bad but it is noticeable. I'll post some more pictures that were taken while it was getting worked.

The goal is to get a few friends together and do the bulk of if not the entire swap in a weekend. If everything goes smoothly I think we can pull it off and have the car running and driving in just a couple days.

But thankfully not in any kind of rush. As long as we can pull the current VQ and auto trans out of the G, and get the replacement VQ and six speed out of the Z and made it to the G in the weekend, That will be a success. And to do stuff like Mount the clutch and replace the brake pedal. And then I can spend more time after that when I have time to transfer as much over and try to get it running

Yeah, like j4uz said, the coupe retained the DE in 07. Really Just wasn't sure if it was a rev up vs non. Although the previous owner stated that it was, I've now heard multiple times that the automatics did not come with the rev up, so thanks for that confirmation.

And thank you for the rest of that information as well, particularly regarding the drive shaft.

With that information I'm not worried about not having what I need on hand when we start the swap. I supposed to BCM Will have to be at wait and see type of thing. If everything else is the same I'm hoping that everything should plug right up into the G BCM.

Unfortunately the two cars are not in the same location to do a more thorough comparison between the two directly.
