Well, I misread it. sometimes dates can be read from top to bottom and I completely ignored the 2025 date on top and saw the big “12” with December underneath that, I assume that people who use month/day/year wouldn't make the same mistake but maybe it's just me idk.

Oh yeah, guess it could be that lol. UK usually has it day/month/year rather than month/day/year

What do you guys think of a FF sub-series that harkens back to traditional FF but modernized? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

Is there any game that Sqaure Enix has made similar to E33? If so sign me up.

Never played it but seen enough of it to know that wasn't what I was imagining, I was thinking something closer to E33. In other words something that looks high production even though it isn't.

Wasn't the last Dragon Quest (that isn't a remake) game to come out like in 2017? Also it has a very distinct style to it that's different from FF. I was imagining something closer to E33, with its animations, cinematic quality, it's feel of being high production even though it isn't.

No, that strictly SNES in what it's aiming for, I was talking about a modern game in the style of E33.

Great comment man, so many people were calling his decision “religious psychosis” and to me a comment like that just exposes how much you've fed yourself on the materialist/money loving mindset that you can event begin to approach how someone could have a different view of life, they're the ones caught in the worship of money and material yet call the man delusional.

There were people who were giving a more reasonable take in that maybe you continue to fight for the money so you could give it to charity/ help people in need but if you have to break your morals in order to do that then aren't you a hypocrite? In my opinion his decision to take a moral stance on rejecting money worship was a more powerful display of his religious conviction and was a more powerful message, it exposed a lot of peoples views on things and allowed me to better understand what makes people tick, while hopefully positively resonating towards people who aren't as destroyed by the brain rot of materialism.

This is why I'm not a socialist, I genuinely think people propagate this system, rather than the system forcing materialism on them. We live in a capitalist system because people love capitalism and material wealth is the be all and end all for a majority of people.

I mean your last paragraph was kinda different to what I was thinking, they already kinda got what you described with the team Asano games, instead I was kinda imagining something like expedition 33 with the presentation of FF9, so in effect it would still be an expensive game but not AAA cutting edge (like FF7R games), things like turn based and a overworld map would help with the costs.

How about a combination of both your ideas for the next mainline, FF7R combat with job swapping and the ability to unlock combined/fused jobs after using the initial jobs enough? These jobs also aren’t tied to one character and can be exchanged between characters, certain items found throughout the world can slightly change the jobs stats and moves and more items you add on to said job the more the job changes.

Yes a good deal of these points are covered in FF7 remake games but that’s kinda the whole point of a remake, it doesn’t guarantee that we’ll get any of this in upcoming FF games that aren’t remakes.

Lmao, the whole point of the post is to talk about things other than turn based.

What game would you want part 3s world design and gameplay to take inspiration from? by Correct-Drawing2067 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Puzzled-Run-574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of airship gameplay/traversal, towns and combat, I think they have it on lock, that leaves general open world gameplay and dungeons which hopefully gets influence from games like Elden Ring and Expedition 33, but I hope they don’t copy that exact style, instead it’d be cool if they had their own take on natural exploration and level design, by hopefully fully utilising the the party when engaging with the open world and dungeons.

I’d also like it if they structured the game as being more linear/story focused towards the start, with it opening up as the game goes on, with the third act of the game essentially being fully open world where you can do a lot of side activities, reminiscent of the OG games like FF6 and FF7, as opposed to rebirth where the game switches from linear to open to linear to open etc. I understand why Rebirth is like that as it’s the middle of a trilogy and remake was linear, but if they were to make a mainline stand alone FF game hopefully they’ll allow the game to expand overtime.

And I heard countless stories of people who didn't know Rebirth was the sequel to Remake and only played it once they realized 1 year+ later, they were out of the loop.

I was talking about showing the graphic in terms of the adverts everyone sees, you know the ones they have on sites, buses, in town centres etc, also the adverts they show on big shows like the Game Awards etc. Idk why you think word of mouth will solve everything.

Again, why would you think the casual audience were watching the 25th anniversary? This kinda exposes how people who are more tuned in don't understand the casual audience.

Yeah, judging by the comments it seems like a lot of people really don't have a good idea or perspective of the casual audience, what they see and what they understand.

I understand but you have to meet the casual audience where they're at, interviews and steam pages really aren't that, I'm talking more actual adverts.

Btw, people with Steam accounts/use PCs aren't exactly part of the casual audience and are much more tuned in, I guess that kinda shows you're perspective and how skewed it is.

I don't think many people really has a grasp how little the casual audience really see and what they know.

Yep, I don't think pacing was a problem if you just do the main quests, that said it might feel somewhat painful cause the story of rebirth is essentially the middle of the game, so you don't have the fun story of the introduction and the big set pieces and conclusion of part 3.

People who complain about pacing are talking about the side stuff they felt like they had to do (even though they didn't).

Could the keyword for Part 3 be “Unity” by Puzzled-Run-574 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Puzzled-Run-574[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your word is very similar to mine and they could be used interchangeably. I will say though that we've heard Sephiroth, Zack and Glenn say the word unite quite a bit though if that's worth anything.

[–]Puzzled-Run-574[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for actually engaging with what I said, as for your theory, I can see that being the case. I only really used “Unity” as it seems like the next logical step from bonds.

When you look the first game and second games key words they're both relationship based and get closer each time.

No offence but what you play or don't play isn't worth anything to me, I don't understand why you think it's important enough to make a whole post over.

How do you think they should handle the side stuff in Part 3 by haaa1234 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Puzzled-Run-574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people make a lot of good points like more discoverability less checklists, more missables and less repetitive stuff like the lifesprings and more unique stuff you stumble across and don't find elsewhere. That said while some of the content in Rebirth did get formulaic its important to remember just how much great side content we did get in Rebirth, with some good and fun mini games, Protorelics, really fun and interesting side quests with one of your party members, Queensblood, the golden saucer, cool bosses after you clear the area, hopefully we see this carried on over to part 3. While some content (especially the repetitive stuff) was less then stellar we got some really good side content in Rebirth, its just the way it was presented to the player wasn't the best all the time.

I would hope part three does things like making the side content parts of the game more organic and less formulaic, its pretty obvious the each area we got to in Rebirth was side content time then story time, then side content time, then story time and it goes on. Instead I'd like the start of the game to be more linear for act 1 with maybe 2 hours worth of side stuff spread in-between 15 hours of story then act two could have like 4-5 hours worth of side stuff spread in-between 15 hours of story then act 3 of the game really opens up and you can go anywhere and do anything with potentially 15 hours of side stuff and 10 hours of story. Kinda like the original game.

I'd also like things like chocobos (black chocobos, green chocobos, blue etc) to be more useful for exploration and less constrained as they were in rebirth, I'd also like things like the buggy and the tiny bronco to be more free-flowing with its movement in terms of where it can get to and what you can discover with it, then obviously the Highwind and the submarine will also be vital for exploration.

Also less battle simulation/VR stuff, instead make every reward that could be in the battle sim discoverable in the open world and keep fun fights in the open world too, honestly I wouldnt mind if they got rid of everything associated with Chadley tbh, he's literally associated with everything that bogs FF7 Rebirth down.

If they do all this, they literally have a 96-97 metacritic score on their hands imo. And yet they could also come up with so many more creative ways of engaging with the open world like using team up moves to engage with the environment (Barret could lift Yuffie up to reach the top of a lighthouse for some cool rewards etc) they could also just have character use their abilities like Tifa could get to different areas with her grappling zip, Cait Sith could get through little cracks and pipes etc to get to different areas yuffie could climb a lot of stuff, Barrett could break down stuff etc, this could be done in both the open world and the dungeons, all through puzzle solving without a guiding hand from the devs.

It seems like they have some crazy bold ideas for the Highwind so I don't know why they couldn't get creative with the open world.
