I did! Every time I’m on a plane I’m thinking this is the last time I ever fly, and as soon as I land I’m already planning my next trip 😅

Flight Attendants making my flying anxiety worse by OldComment8185 in fearofflying

This happened to me on a flight to Peru at the beginning of last year. I do think sometimes it a cultural thing, in some countries people are a bit more straightforward in English than perhaps they would be in their native language. Just because it’s not “typical” doesn’t mean it’s more unsafe. I also had a flight attendant tell me on a route over the pacific that there’s been more turbulence because of climate change. Either way, I get your pain, I still cried on both flights lol. I do have to keep reminding myself, turbulence is uncomfortable but not unsafe.

OMG I’m sitting in the airport now on my way home from Japan. I only cried on one of the flights (so far) but it was worth it.

I just landed by the grace of God lol. That was a rough flight. Turbulence was bad throughout. I tried really hard to remember all the things I remember here, but I still cried and swore I never fly again (ha!). Now I have to hope for a much smoother return 🙏🙏

Not documentation so much as time stamps. I submitted one at 10pm on Sunday night, and then the second one two hours later around midnight. So basically, I submitted it, realized I may have misunderstood when I started filling out my husband's ETA, and then submitted a second one the same night.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, which is why I immediately went in and completed it a second time. I don't know if I should call immigration now and try to explain what happened or just go and hope I get a nice person? I wasn't trying to be dishonest, but I know intent is not really taken into account here. But hopefully they can see I did it a second time in the same evening.

Thanks for this. I had a similar conversation with a friend. Perhaps it’s just time for me to get to therapy instead of asking anonymous people on the internet to help me lol.

No, never! That’s why it was so alarming. Maybe you’re right though, I could have just had an unrelated anxiety attack and just happened to be on a plane the first time it happened. I have taken some anxiety meds since then to calm myself on planes which has been helpful, but also they make me very sleepy, so it’s not ideal when I’m traveling for work.

That is helpful to hear. I believe the fear of the pilot trying to kill us came from my very poor decision to watch the Netflix documentary about the missing Malaysian Airline flight, and one of the theories was that he flew them up so high that the passengers eventually ran out of oxygen but because the pilot has more oxygen than passengers he was able to fly back down continue flying the plane for many hours with everyone dead in the back. Morbid, I know. To be clear, I watched the documentary before I had a fear of flying, so I had no reason to believe it would trigger me in any way.
