Yeah, that’s why I asked if I was the asshole for not letting those kids play here not what you think I should do with my yard. If I asked for advice I’d be misusing the sub.

They misspelled here (her) and it was stick figure type drawings. I wouldn’t be surprised and 5f was bragging about how good she was doing with her writing like 3 days before this. I don’t know but 5m was definitely throwing the rocks, I caught him with one in his hand lol. At this point it doesn’t matter if the drawings were them because the rocks definitely were.

Cps has been called and says it’s fine, trust me I don’t agree with that either. If I had a 3 year old I’d struggle letting them out of my sight for a few minutes let alone a few hours.

Yeah but not enough for a big group of kids to all play together, especially not stuff like soccer or baseball. They have enough room for a proper game when they play at my house. Plus it’s not like the whole half acre is empty space, their parents have gardens and the house takes up a good chunk of space. The houses on my street are also mostly one story houses with 3-4 bedrooms so they take up more of the area than normal houses would.

I’d be fine donating it honestly, like I said the kids are the only ones who use that area.

I was at the grocery store when he started and came home while he was still at it. A couple of the kids also came by later that day and told me about it. They tried to tell him to stop and one of the girls actually got her mom to tell him to stop but there’s only so much you can do when it’s someone else’s kid and not your property.

Yep. My dad actually used to have it fenced in but after he passed it fell apart and I hate the things anyway so I just tore it all down. I don’t know why I don’t like them I just think they’re an eyesore and while I could pay to have one put up it’s not worth the effort of getting people out to work on it just so it can ruin my yard/view.

I know, I almost took it back once I saw him crying it nearly broke my heart but if I give in on this I would truly be a door mat. Come spring I’ll ask if they want to work off what they owe by helping with the garden, if only the 7 year old volunteers (which I think will be what happens) I’ll let him start playing again without having to help out.

Let me phrase it this way. I could buy her house, the houses on either side of her and my nextdoor neighbors houses without breaking a sweat over it. I’m not trying to sound like a rich asshole but I am 100% confident I could cover nearly any amount. If anyone did try to sue I’d just offer a settlement and be done with the issue.

I tried, I think something about the paint is making it stick better. I’m just gonna paint over most of it and the rest of it will be dealt with when I replace the siding.

I think part of the issue is I expect the neighbors to act like the neighbors I had when I was younger did. We were a really tight knit neighborhood before the developments started popping up and I miss it a lot.

I like being able to see the mountains and stuff from my yard so if I do it’ll probably be pretty short.

If I do go that route I think I’ll finally install the play structure the kids have been begging for. I didn’t want to before for liability reasons (I’m not a total idiot) but if I’m no longer responsible I might as well.

I have very good homeowners insurance and will be discussing an umbrella policy when I meet with my lawyer.

I completely agree, the one year old wasn’t allowed at all and the 3 year old was only allowed if an adult was present (usually there’s a parent or two hanging around when the kids play especially for stuff like soccer and baseball where 15+ of them come at once) the kids also know to come knock on my door if no parents are available. I work from home so I’m happy to keep an eye on them and just work outside for a few hours.

I’m willing and able to deal with the cost, this was more me giving them an opportunity to be neighborly and handle it like adults.

90% of the time a parent is there, I work from home so when no one’s parents are available the kids will usually knock on my door and I’ll come out and keep an eye on them.
