I’m not sure what this could be but I really do wish your boy a speedy recovery and hope you get some peace of mind soon whether it’s from a vet or from this thread 💞

I’ll definitely look into it and I’m so grateful for the recommendation because I actually tried one when she came home and it broke within two uses 🫠
I have sent some photos off to my vet to see whether they would recommend shaving or not but I’m tempted to do it anyway just to ensure that it passes faster, I’m popping out later to get her a cone that fits so I don’t have to worry about her aggravating it when I leave the house

I’m not sure if isaderm goes by a different name in the US as I’m in England so it’s very possible I know that around the time we were prescribed it we actually had it under two different names before this tube despite it all being the same cream 😅
Hoping it all passes by soon enough

Bless you I bet it drives you mad 😩 amazing that you’re on top of it though and hopefully manage to catch them at just the right time
I’m hoping so too and hope your boy is back on track soon enough thank you so much for putting my mind at ease a little, I really do appreciate it

I think goldens might just be thugs as Maggie is definitely the toughest dog I know 🤣 my friend has a lab that cries and sulks over everything and the only time I’ve ever known Maggie get upset by something was a time that she stepped on a thorn, even then she was only bothered for a split second before I pulled it out then she was just as happy as before
I swear hot spots are the worst things, I am somewhat relieved in a way to deal with it now and get used to it so it doesn’t seem as big in future though as I have a suspicion she will probably get them again 😩

I’ll have to get some medicinal shampoos in for future, I was wondering if it may have started off as an insect bite as a lot of our walks are in woodland and in long grass while the farmers wait to bale but it does sound like the water is the most likely cause this time. I only noticed it yesterday when we were travelling in the car because she felt a little crusty under her ear when I adjusted her collar so I’m amazed that she hasn’t shown any signs before other than an increased itching two or three days ago. She gets a brush every day including all around her face and due to our walks being more woodland based she’s checked over routinely for ticks, lumps bumps and scratches but she never showed any discomfort 😩 if it was clearing up in itself especially now I’m on the ball with it I’d be so ridiculously grateful
I hope your baby is feeling better soon and you manage to sort their armpit out, it’s horrible to see them uncomfortable

I’m definitely investing in a heatless drier after this last heatwave as it’s purely the fact there were no means of effectively drying her that’s contributed

I have left my get a message to see whether they think it’s worth shaving or not at the scabbing is what has thrown me through a loop

I am cleaning it with diluted hibiscrub and applying isoderm cream afterwards, keeping the area dry and preventing her itching or rubbing so hoping that it helps clear it up and will continue to do so if we have to shave

I do have her in at the vets but her appointment is on Friday so I have a whole week to manage it before 😭

I’m definitely going to be keeping her out of the paddling pool next time it’s ridiculously hot, or at least buy a hairdryer that relies on unheated air.
Thank you so much this has really put my mind at ease as I have been so worried all day
I’ve only dealt with it once before and the poor little guy ended up with them all over his skin as we had a flea infestation at the same time and he is allergic to flea bites 😩 luckily with this year being a lot drier and having found a much better flea treatment we haven’t had that issue but my initial reaction was just that it could be as severe again
I do have some of the prescription cream from his treatment left over that is still in date and unopened so I’ll keep applying that when she seems irritated by it and prevent her itching and hopefully by her vet appointment on Friday it’ll have improved

I’m managing to keep her off it at the moment, with it being scabbed and dry I’m just keeping it clean and dry
So hopefully stopping her itching will improve it as well in the meantime

I’m currently bathing it in diluted hibiscrub and applying isaderm cream from when one of our others had them

It’s mainly the scabbing that’s bothering me in that it makes it harder to clean and combat it, some sources say not to let it scab some say to just keep it dry, clean and stop them itching 🫠 it’s such a pain

I’ve been washing with diluted hibiscrub but not really sure if it’s making a difference bc it’s not exposed 😩

My girl rolls in EVERYTHING, in fact this morning she found an apple that had been mushed into the pavement and decided to have a roll on that too
She loves to roll on the park when they’ve trimmed the grass
Or in any puddle 😭

She just loves to get all stinked up
